Just days ahead of the Paris Summer Olympics opening ceremony, Japanese Olympic gymnast star Shoko Miyata was dismissed by the team after being caught smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol.
The 19-year-old is Japan’s biggest gymnastics star and the reigning national title leader, as well as won a bronze medal during the 2022 World Gymnastics Championship. She was set to be Japan’s Gymnastics Captain for this summer’s Olympic games.

Ted Scott, Scottie Scheffler’s caddie, felt ill all day on Friday, but that did not slow down the best player in the world.
Ted Scott struggled all day on Friday, laboring around Royal Troon with a nasty stomach bug. He had to lie down multiple times throughout the day, proof that this illness had gotten the best of him.

Davante Adams wants to play with Tom Brady — and he doesn’t even care how old he is.
During a recent appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast, the Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver nearly jumped out of his seat at the (hypothetical) suggestion of Brady coming out of retirement.
“Tom Brady, would you ev-…how old is Brady?” Sharpe began.
“Hell yes,” Adams interjected, not even letting Sharpe finish the question.

Royal Troon showed a bit of bite during Thursday’s opening round of The Open, specifically during the morning wave of action with rain and wind picking up as Dan Bradbury’s 83 stood as day one’s highest score. The second-round honor fell to Japan’s Aguri Iwasaki on Friday as he delivered the oh-so-rare score in the 90s at a major championship as the winds wreaked havoc on the Scottish links.
Iwasaki began his day inside the tournament cut line after carding a 3-over 74 on day one.

The Chicago Bears reported to training camp Friday morning, joining the Houston Texans as the two NFL teams that have already begun full squad preparation for the 2024 season. By the middle of next week, the entire league will be back at work.
Everybody is preparing to win a Super Bowl.
Except that’s not going to happen. We know only one team will win it all in February 2025. And we also know, that if this new NFL season is like practically all the others dating back decades, a handful of coaches will be fired by the time it’s all over.

Here’s the best of what’s left on the NBA free agent market.
NBA offseason movement has ground to a halt, the Paris Olympics are about to kick off, and every team just got a first look at its rookies in Las Vegas Summer League. It feels like there will be a second wave of deals coming soon before training camps officially open around the league, but for now the league’s wheeling and dealing season is on pause.
Cap space around the league has all but dried up.

I don’t know if you’ve heard but there is a major IT outage affecting people around the globe and it’s causing some serious headaches.
Everything is fine and dandy here at my base of operations (read: the extra bedroom where my girlfriend lets me keep my desk) and I was able to knock out a couple of College Football 25 games this morning, so all is well on the home front.
However, others aren’t as lucky (or, if we want to be honest, handsome) as I am, and that includes the most famous trophy in all of sports.

Sometimes you just gotta make that hog turn purple.
The world of LED lighting is a wonderful place. If you’ve been locked into a world of bright white, warm yellow, or the gamut of dimmer switch brightnesses for most of your life, honestly it can be overwhelming when suddenly you have access to almost any color you can imagine.
Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman is simply in awe of the things he can do with his hog when he’s at his lake house.

Willie Anderson is a three-time finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but he still has yet to be enshrined in Canton. And he has an interesting theory about why that is.
In an appearance on Thursday’s Up & Adams, the former All-Pro offensive tackle said The Blind Side movie has tainted public perception of his position. According to Anderson, the 2009 Oscar-nomincated film perpetuates a narrative that left tackle is a more valuable position on the O-line than his spot on the right side.
