Chargers running back Austin Ekeler thinks he deserves a lot more money.
Ekeler is currently entering the final year of a four year, $24.5 million contract (numbers via Spotrac), and he thinks he’s been sorely underpaid. That has led to Ekeler trying to find a new home, and he wants to get paid if he does.
“Look, man, I’m so underpaid right now as far as my contract and what I contribute to the team. It’s like, I am relentlessly pursuing this. I want to get something long-term done. I want a team that wants me long term,” Ekeler said during an interview with Chris Long.

Each of the conference’s biggest stars has plenty at stake heading into this year’s postseason.
There is no clear-cut favorite in the Eastern Conference to make the Finals right now. It’s simultaneously thrilling and unsettling. Seriously, how are you supposed to separate the Bucks, Sixers and Celtics? Boston came out of the gate incredibly strong, and while the C’s have cooled off, they are still top five in both offense and defense, the only team in the league with that distinction.

While going head to head with male players in an MLS youth academy, the 2023 NWSL top draft pick didn’t just keep up with the boys—she stood out among them.
Every game, you could hear the same sideline rumblings, the same surprised observation: There’s a girl on the other team.
A girl was playing for Total Futbol Academy in MLS Next, the top level of U.S. boys’ talent. Academy programs like this one produced men’s national team stars Weston McKennie and Tyler Adams. Every guy on the field wanted to make it to the pros. And the girl? She’d already made it.

He was not happy with the fan attendance at Tuesday night’s NIT game.
Oregon’s men’s basketball season ended on Tuesday night with a 61–58 home loss in the NIT quarterfinal to Wisconsin. The defeat ended a disappointing season overall for the Ducks, who have become accustomed to making the NCAA tournament under coach Dana Altman.
The disappointment in the season seeped over into the lack of fan support at Tuesday night’s critical NIT matchup, where only 3,300 fans were estimated in attendance.

John Calipari referred to Kansas State’s Markquis Nowell – who is five-foot-seven – as “little kid” during his postgame press conference following Kentucky’s loss to the Wildcats in the NCAA Tournament.
Given that we live in the year 2023, people were offended by Coach Cal’s “little kid” phrasing and, as expected, Calipari reached out to Nowell and apologized to him after some pushback on social media.
Jareem Dowling, an assistant coach for Kansas State, tweeted out the clip of Calipari calling Nowell “little kid” demanding he “put some respect” on his name.

This was ELECTRIC.
The World Baseball Classic came down to a perfect ending that not even writers in Hollywood could have come up with – the great Shohei Ohtani on the mound facing his Angels teammate, the great Mike Trout, in a one-run game with two outs in the ninth.
It was glorious. It was fascinating. It had everyone on the edge of their seat.
And in the end it had Ohtani throwing his hat and glove in celebration after getting Trout to swing and miss on a 3-2 pitch to give Japan a 3-2 win over Team USA.

The MMQB staff debates the best teams, the contracts, the GMs, which deals will turn out to be the best and which deals will turn out to be regrettable.
The first wave of NFL free agency is over.
We’ve seen the contracts and structures, giving a clear picture of which deals are favorable and which will quickly be regrettable. While notable players remain on the market, draft needs for the 32 clubs are coming into focus.
This year there were a couple of notable quarterbacks in Jimmy Garoppolo and Baker Mayfield.

The next three days could be the climax of the college Pro Day season for NFL teams needing a quarterback and holding a high first-round pick.
Quarterback C.J. Stroud will be working out for scouts at the Ohio State Pro Day after throwing in Indianapolis. And great things are expected from him because last year when scouts visited Ohio State to watch receivers Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave work out, many left awed with the performance Stroud put on throwing them the football.
Quarterback Bryce Young will be working out for teams at the University of Alabama Pro Day on Thursday.

Former NBA player Richard Jefferson is upping the reward to find the goons responsible for fatally shooting his father in 2018.
Jefferson and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department are offering $20,000 in reward money for information on Richard Allen Jefferson’s death. The amount doubled the original reward of $10,000 in 2020.

On Sept. 19, 2018, a drive-by shooter mistook the elder Jefferson and his friends as gang members. The group was gunned down on the Compton street corner, and Jefferson suffered multiple gunshot wounds before succumbing to his injuries at a nearby hospital.

Breaking down the struggles of the top NBA Draft prospects from the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament
More than any time over the last 20 years, the college game is an old man’s game.
Thanks to the transfer portal explosion and an extra year of eligibility for all those who were impacted by the COVID-shortened 2020 season, teams are older than ever. Elite teams are relying on that age and experience to carry them to success, which we’re seeing throughout the NCAA Tournament.
