Some thrilling finishes and a heavy jolt of history headlined the NCAA tournament’s second day.
We’ve got too much to get to for any sort of big intro here, so let’s just get right to it.
If you want to get to the Fairleigh Dickinson stuff, then you can go ahead and skip on down to the second section. While the Knights’ upset of Purdue was certainly the most notable result of the day, it was not one of the day’s three best games. Blame the Boilermakers for that.

Penny Hardaway was in a bad mood after FAU beat Memphis in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Owls pulled off an incredible final possession to beat the Tigers, but it wasn’t without controversy. The possession was only able to happen after a jump ball gave possession to FAU.
It definitely looked like it could have been a timeout for Memphis. Instead, the ball went back to the Owls, and FAU hit a 66-65 game winner.

Jamaal Williams wasn’t pleased by the offer the Detroit Lions gave him to stick around.
Williams balled out last year. The talented running back rushed for a league-high 17 touchdowns and 1,066 yards. He had an incredible season.
Ultimately, he opted to sign with the Saints for up to $12 million over three years. That’s a number Detroit apparently had no interest in entertaining, and Williams publicly flamed the team’s “disrespectful” offer.

Some bracket-busting upsets ensured that nobody’s predictions will 100% correct for the men’s NCAA tournament.
As the first round of the men’s NCAA tournament closes, it’s been one electrifying rollercoaster of excitement for some teams, while other programs have been left with the agony of defeat.
For the fans, particularly those who made their own brackets, it’s no different. The thrill of the underdog story first hit with No. 13 Furman’s defeat of No. 3 Virginia, before No. 16 Fairleigh Dickinson shocked the world by beating No. 1 Purdue.

Tobin Anderson called his shot.
No. 16 seed Fairleigh Dickinson became the talk of the college basketball world Friday night after pulling off a stunning 63–58 upset of No. 1-seed Purdue in the round of 64. But, while the Knights’ improbable win may have surprised the nation, the Cinderella team already appeared to be on a collision course with destiny long before taking the floor in Columbus.

Charles Barkley is one of sports media’s best comedians, and he reinforced that title on Friday.
Before Friday’s NCAA Tournament game between Pittsburgh and Iowa State, Barkley had his studio show co-hosts cracking up.
He explained that during his playing days, he would shower in his team uniform to clean them off after games. Somehow, he believed it was “easier” that way than doing laundry.

Charles Barkley: “We used to take a shower in our uniforms…”
“It’s just easier to clean that way.”
