The Furman star was as shocked as most fans were.
Virginia point guard Kihei Clark turned the ball over with five seconds to play against Furman on Thursday, throwing an errant pass to avoid a full-court trap that led to a JP Pegues game-winning three with 2.2 seconds to play.
The Paladins stunned the Cavaliers in the first upset of the men’s NCAA tournament, and it wasn’t just college basketball fans who were stunned. The mishap by the usually-reliable Clark even surprised Furman star Jalen Slawson, who was speaking to team staffer in the tunnel after the game.

The 13th-seeded Furman Paladins upset the 4th-seeded Virginia Cavaliers 68-67 on the back of a miraculous three pointer by Furman G JP Pegues.
With nine seconds left and the Cavaliers up 67-65, Cavaliers G Kihei Clark caught the inbounds pass in the corner of the basketball court, and was immediately trapped. Rather than dribble it out or call timeout, Clark threw the ball to the middle of the court, hoping to run some clock. However, his desperation heave went directly to Furman’s Garrett Hien.
He was excited to talk about one of the most embarrassing moments of his career.

They were down five points at halftime, and battled back to set themselves up for the upset win.
However, the big story here is Kihei Clark, unfortunately. Virginia’s fifth-year guard ended his college career with an all-time blunder.

The Puerto Rico pitcher’s knee injury casts a shadow over what has thus far been a joyous event.
First, Edwin Díaz closed out Puerto Rico’s win over the Dominican Republic, striking out three to seal a team berth in the next round of the World Baseball Classic. Then, everything stopped.
Surrounded by joyous teammates, Díaz crumpled to the ground amid Puerto Rico’s infield celebration. What seemed at first like perhaps a mild injury soon looked much worse. Díaz was helped into a wheelchair and taken down the tunnel.

It was an absolutely mind-boggling moment. It felt like Furman were done and dusted after a surge in the second half, but then Kihei Clark did the unthinkable.
