Two more spots in the NBA playoffs were spoken for Tuesday night, and now just two more remain.
The Hawks and Lakers can rest easy for a few days, having secured the No. 7 seeds in the East and West, respectively. The two eight seeds are still up for grabs, though neither will be decided until Friday night. Then the playoffs get underway Saturday afternoon.

Shannon Sharpe doesn’t appear to have any faith in his co-host’s ability in the run game. While appearing on Travis and Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast, the former tight end was asked if he thought Skip Bayless could gain one yard on an NFL play and completely scoffed at the idea, to put it mildly.
The Kelces posed the question in a previous episode when they asked each other if an average person could get a one-yard gain in an NFL matchup.

The legend of Shohei Ohtani continues.
The Angels’ do-it-all superstar had another impressive outing on the mound on Tuesday night against the Nationals, pitching seven shutout innings while allowing just one hit and striking out six. He did have five walks, but the start lowered his ERA to 0.47 this season.
According to the team’s public relations Twitter account, Tuesday was Ohtani’s 10th straight start allowing two runs or fewer, which is a new Angels record.

From heir apparent to hair apparent.
It’s been a weird 12 months for 49ers QB Trey Lance. Once seen as the future in San Francisco, the player who would take over for Jimmy Garoppolo and bring sustained success to the Bay Area — this was quickly pushed aside with the emergence of Brock Purdy paired with Lance’s own struggles. Now he’s solidly in the realm of trade chatter.
When it comes to moments like this you need to refocus, reassess, and try to get everything back on track. Lance picked one hell of a workout buddy to get him back where he needs to be.

Penn State baseball dominated West Virginia on Tuesday night as the Nittany Lions crowd dominated the concession stands. The Big Ten program hosted the Big-12 opponents in State College and notched its 18th win of the year by a score of 11-6.
Four of those runs, the go-ahead runs, were scored in chaotic fashion.
Penn State loaded the bases with two outs while trailing by two in the bottom of the sixth inning. Junior second baseman Kyle Hannon stepped up to the dish and knocked a 1-0 pitch down the first base line into no man’s land.

Louisiana wide receiver Michael Jefferson was involved in a fatal car crash Sunday night, and he suffered injuries that required him to have multiple surgeries, Jefferson’s agent, Jon Perzley, told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The Mobile, Ala., collision involved three cars and killed one man. Jefferson’s injuries and timeline for recovery are unknown at this time.
According to a release from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency obtained by NFL Network, Jefferson’s 2019 Chevrolet Impala collided head on with a ’14 Dodge Charger, which was then hit by a ’08 Nissan Maxima.

Angel Reese stands to make some serious money after her profile received a monster boost these past few weeks.
Reese and the LSU Tigers beat Iowa in the women’s college basketball national title game, but that’s hardly been the focal point. It’s everything that happened at the end of the game and afterwards that has dominated the news.
Reese taunted Caitlin Clark in a fashion many found inappropriate, and she threatened to boycott the White House after Jill Biden floated also inviting Iowa.

Move over Aaron Judge, there’s a new star on the New York Yankees, although you may need to get him a new pair of cleats.
Baseball social media absolutely erupted the last two nights over the Yankees new batboy that the team has been using during their away series against the Cleveland Guardians.

The Yankees batboy appears out of place for the historic franchise. (YES Network)

JOE DIRT PLAYS BASEBALL?
I mean this is fantastic.
This kid (or maybe he’s old enough to be a father?) is what baseball needs.

The NBA might be bracing for some financial troubles.
NBA officials instructed league office staff to cut spending and limit hiring due to “economic headwinds” for the rest of the year, according to a memo from executives Kyle Cavanaugh and David Haber obtained by the New York Times.
The memo claims the NBA is “facing a very different economic reality than just one year ago. We are seeing significant challenges to achieving our revenue budget with additional downside risk still in front of us.
