Shane McClanahan was solid once again Tuesday night in leading the Tampa Bay Rays to their 11th consecutive win to open the season. However, it was one specific pitch among his 95 tosses on the night that had social media buzzing.
Facing Boston’s Rob Refsnyder, McClanahan unleashed a vicious 88 mph changeup that broke so hard out of the zone it left the center fielder swinging at absolute air.
Tampa Bay’s ace, who owns a stellar 1.59 ERA, allowed just one run and two hits over five-plus innings, while striking out nine.

USA Today columnist Christine Brennan did some outstanding hypocrisy about LIV golf on Tuesday.
Brennan wrote a lengthy column about The Masters and her frustration with LIV associated golfers ranking near the top of the final leaderboard.

Her problem with LIV stems from the fact that the tour is backed by Saudi money. And as a result, golfers choosing to associate themselves with the Saudis do not deserve to play well or be shown on television.

Young walked by his coach and started to chew him out, despite the Hawks’ strong lead heading into the second quarter. A Hawks teammate pulled Young away from McMillan as the assistant coach brushed off the ill-tempered player.

The Baltimore Orioles probably are not the best team in baseball. But it’s hard to argue that any MLB team has more fun.
They came into Tuesday’s action with a 5-5 record across their first 10 games of the season. On Monday, during a 5-1 win over the Oakland Athletics, they debuted a new home run celebration: the “beer” bong.
Ryan Mountcastle of the Baltimore Orioles celebrates in the dugout after hitting a home run against the Oakland Athletics in the first inning at Oriole Park at Camden Yards on April 10, 2023 in Baltimore, Maryland.

The Blue Jays made some adjustments at the Rogers Centre this offseason, including lowering the height of the center field wall.
Ahead of Toronto’s home opener, center fielder Kevin Kiermaier, who joined the team this offseason, expressed his excitement over the new outfield dimension. In doing so, the 32-year-old almost perfectly foreshadowed his home run robbery against the Tigers during the second inning of Tuesday’s game.
“I know they lowered the wall in CF, I’m really excited about that.

Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson did not have the 2022 NFL season that he would have liked.
However, when he arrived at Broncos headquarters in Englewood, Colo., on Tuesday to begin the first phase of Denver’s offseason program, Wilson looked eager to start the preparation for his 12th season and exuded the same energy he did when stating his iconic “Let’s Ride” declaration to fans.
Mike Klis of KUSA-TV in Denver reports that Wilson made it to the Broncos facility before sunrise, wearing an “old-school, throwback Broncos’ T-shirt and shorts.

The Big Ten has a new commissioner. And college athletics has its newest power player.
Tony Petitti takes over for Kevin Warren in what many would describe as one of the most powerful positions in all of college sports. Petitti will preside over one of the country’s richest and most successful college conferences.
While most view Warren’s tenure as a roller coaster ride—the lows of the COVID cancellation to the highs of a multi-billion dollar TV deal—Petitti walks into a stable and lucrative gig.
