Joe Pepitone, a former three-time all star and three-time gold glove winner with the Yankees, has died at the age of 82, the team announced on Monday.

San Francisco has agreed to terms with quarterback Sam Darnold on a one-year contract, according to a Monday afternoon report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Darnold will reportedly join a 49ers roster that includes quarterbacks Trey Lance and Brock Purdy. Lance and Purdy are 22 and 23, respectively, having been drafted in the first and seventh rounds in 2021 and ’22.
The cornerback won a Super Bowl with the team back in the 2020 season.
The Buccaneers are keeping one of their key defenders in town, having reportedly agreed to re-sign star cornerback Jamel Dean, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter indicates that Dean is in agreement with Tampa Bay on a four-year, $52 million deal, coming out to an average annual value of $13 million per season. Jordan Schultz of TheScore reports that Dean will be collecting $26 million in guaranteed money as part of his four-year deal.

As the NFL’s legal tampering period opened Monday, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport shed light on the precise holdup to negotiations over Rodgers’s future: a lack of information from Rodgers himself.
“The Packers are open to trading him. Rodgers has two options: retire or go play for the Jets,” Rapoport said.
