Scott Skiles isn’t walking through that door! And neither is Glen Rice, Chris Mullin nor Terry Porter. Shawn Kemp? Forget about it. There’s (sadly) no reign in this forecast.
But pack an umbrella and a pocket full of quarters just in case. Because with 7 NBA teams still alive, I’m looking at which currently competing NBA franchises could best drain threes and rattle rims in a modern-day version of the arcade classic NBA Jam.
You know the drill by now. In 1993, NBA Jam occupied roughly half the space in the minds of young males. Tiffani Amber Thiessen occupied the other half.

Juan Soto has been as advertised in his first season as a member of the New York Yankees, displaying his trademark combination of power and patience.
Through the first 45 games of the season, Soto’s hitting .302/.403/.517 with nine home runs and more walks than strikeouts. His defense has even improved in New York; after years of being a negative defensive player, he’s contributed slightly positive value in 2024.
Put his well above average batting line and positive defense together, and Soto’s been worth 2.3 wins above replacement this year.

Schauffele put together another impressive round at Valhalla as he channeled his inner Viking warrior.
Xander Schauffele continues to impress at Valhalla Golf Club as he leads after Day 2 of the 2024 PGA Championship. He fired off a 3-under 68 to sit at 12-under on the tournament and hold a one-shot lead over Collin Morikawa.
Schauffele had to fight hard on Friday. He went out in 32 strokes, making three birdies in the process. He went birdie-bogey on 10 and 11 on the back nine, then settled for par the rest of the way home.

The PGA Championship had a historic day Friday, not for anything that transpired on the course. Here are the winners and losers from Day Two.
Words cannot adequately describe the tragic scenes that unfolded before dawn on Friday morning at the PGA Championship.
An innocent man by the name of John Mills lost his life.
Scottie Scheffler ended up in handcuffs in a separate incident, making fans lose their minds online.

We knew there’d be changes in Toronto after the Maple Leafs made another early exit, with former head coach Sheldon Keefe being shown the door.
Keefe did a great job with the team in the regular season, but the postseason was another story, and his replacement — Craig Berube — should address one of the big problems that has plagued the team at times come the Stanley Cup Playoffs: an apparent lack of accountability.
Berube was fired by the St. Louis Blues earlier this season after taking over behind the bench partway through the 2019 season.

The recent commencement address that Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker gave at Benedictine College split a lot of people, and it seems it is even divisive among various Catholic organizations.
Butker’s comments have drawn both praise and criticism from everywhere, but it’s interesting to see the polar opposite reactions from groups of Butker’s fellow Catholics.
Let’s start with CatholicVote, which describes itself on its website as “America’s Top Catholic Advocacy Organization.

Any time Tiger Woods plays these days, it’s must-see TV. And with the PGA Championship just his third start of the year, those opportunities are few and far between.
But unfortunately, thanks to a brutal Friday afternoon at Valhalla Golf Club outside Louisville, golf fans won’t be able to watch Woods play the weekend at the PGA.
Woods started his day with a par on the opening hole, but his round quickly fell apart from there. He put up a triple bogey seven on the second, a bogey five on the third and then another triple on the fourth.
