After the Warriors’ NBA title defense ended in Friday night’s 122–101 Game 6 Western Conference semifinals loss to the Lakers, coach Steve Kerr offered a blatant assessment on the season as a whole and the playoff elimination.
There’s no arguing that this was one of the more trying seasons that Golden State has had under Kerr over the better part of the last decade, as the team really had to play well down the stretch of the regular season to even make it into the playoffs.
Taking that into consideration, Kerr believes that this Warriors team maxed out its potential.

Toronto fans can point to questionable officiating, particularly in Game 5 of the second-round series, but the truth is the Maple Leaf weren’t prepared for battle with the Boston-conquering Florida Panthers, and by the time their stars responded, it was too late.

After the first 12 games of the 2023 season, few expected the Lakers to get to this point.
Los Angeles opened this year by floundering to a 2–10 start, parking itself in a tie for last place in the Western Conference on Nov. 11. However, the Lakers closed the season on a 41–29 tear, dispatched the Grizzlies in the first round, and are headed to the Western Conference finals after beating the Warriors 122–101 Friday night to end their six-game series.

A college baseball coach has resigned after his team was caught cheating using wireless headset devices in a recent game that they didn’t even end up winning.
Talk about a strikeout.
Atlantic Cape Community College coach Rodney Velardi stepped down this past week after an investigation found that at least two of his players were using a communication device that was found in their helmets.
Atlantic Cape Community College were found to have illegal wireless headsets in some of their players helmets.

For eight years, the Warriors always found an escape door.
Down 2–1 against a physical Memphis team? Ah, just stick Andrew Bogut on Tony Allen. Down 2–1 to LeBron James in the Finals? Let Stephen Curry run the Cavs ragged. Down 3–1 to the Thunder? Klay Thompson will soon solidify his Game 6 legend. Down 3–2 to the Rockets? Force a Game 7 and watch them miss 27 threes in a row. Down 2–1 to the Celtics? Curry can simply remind everyone he’s one of the greatest players of all time.

Mercury star Brittney Griner returned to the WNBA floor on Friday night for her first competitive basketball game in the league in 572 days.
In her preseason return, Griner netted 10 points and added three rebounds in a 90–71 loss to the Sparks.
Griner had not played since Game 4 of the 2021 WNBA Finals after being incarcerated in Russia for possession of drug paraphernalia in February of ’22.
In December, the United States negotiated her release from Russian prison. Now, Griner is expected to be a centerpiece to the Mercury’s title hopes after missing all of last season.

The Warriors’ quest to defend their NBA title ended on Friday night in a 122–101 loss at the hands of LeBron James and the Lakers.
Things could look drastically different in Golden State next season, as Draymond Green, a core member of the Warriors’ four championship teams, has an opt-out clause in his contract that would allow him to test free agency. Despite the impending decision contractually, Green said that wants to remain a “Warrior for life.”
“We’ll see what happens as far as my contract goes,” Green said. “Obviously I have an opt-out. Everybody knows about that.

Kenyon Martin made it clear who he prioritizes after a big NBA win.
The former basketball player had some choice words for New York Knicks star Julius Randle after Randle decided to give his wife a kiss after a big Game 5 victory on Wednesday rather than be with his team.
