We’re in the Golden Age of ironic foul balls. This week we had the dude in Seattle who caught foul balls on back-to-back pitches and now Cincinnati Reds outfielder Spencer Steer hit one to not only a member of his family, but his twin brother.
Fraternal twin brother, but still…

For most of the 2024 golf season, Scottie Scheffler has seemed invincible.
Scheffler’s worst finish of the year is in a tie for 17th place, but starting in March, he was almost untouchable. He won the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill, then followed that up with a win at The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass the next weekend. He collapsed all the way into a tie for second place at the Texas Children’s Houston Open, before easily winning The Masters.
The New Hampshire State Senate has sided with common sense in the transgenders in girl’s sports debate.
Earlier this week, the senate passed SB 1205, which would prohibit transgendered females (who are biological males) from competing in girl’s sports from the 5-12 grade levels in the Granite State. Verstappen fought off the field at the Formula 1 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at historic Imola, qualifying on pole for the eighth straight F1 race. That mark, which dates back to last season’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, saw Verstappen match a record set by the legendary Ayrton Senna.
Look, it’s a slow news day outside of Valhalla. That’s generally what happens on May 18. People think the Dog Days of Summer start in July, but that ain’t true. They start right around now.
Thankfully, though, we have one psycho on the University of Virginia baseball team to fill the void. Now, did he fire a no-no? No. Get in a fight? Nope. Say something stupid? Not that I know of.
What he did, though, tops all of those things. It has my brain in an absolute pretzel this afternoon.
