Charles Barkley: Not a radio guy.
In the latest episode of The Steam Room podcast, Barkley revealed he would never listen to sports on the radio. In fact, he thinks it’s “stupid.”
The conversation started when NHL on TNT studio analyst Paul Bissonnette said after retiring from hockey, he got his start in media doing Arizona Coyotes radio.
“I would never listen to any sport on the radio,” Barkley bluntly stated. “I would never turn on the radio and listen to the game. I think that’s the stupidest thing in the world.

If you’re going to bark at Phillies’ Bryce Harper, expect a response.
Colorado Rockies reliever Jake Bird ruffled some feathers after jawing at Bryce Harper in the seventh inning at Coors Field on Sunday.
Bird pestered Harper as he finished the inning, keeping the Rockies’ 4-0 lead strong over the Phillies. Harper retaliated by charging Bird — prompting both teams to clear the benches and keep the two separated in the skirmish.

As it turned out, Stephen Curry held the NBA’s Game 7 scoring record for two whole weeks.
That’s because Celtics wing Jayson Tatum erupted for a historic 51 points during Sunday’s 112-88 win over the 76ers, sending Boston to the Eastern Conference finals and topping the 50 points Curry notched during Game 7 of Golden State’s first-round series win over the Kings.
Tatum was outstanding all game long but took control of the game during the third quarter, during which Boston went on a 28-3 run to turn what was a tight contest into a blowout.

A day after he was struck in the head by a line drive, the Rockies announced that pitcher Ryan Feltner sustained a fractured skull and a concussion but will not need surgery. He was hospitalized overnight and is expected to be released sometime on Sunday, per The Athletic‘s Nick Groke.
Feltner was hit during the second inning of Saturday’s game against the Reds when Nick Castellanos hit a line drive up the middle. Statcast measured the exit velocity of the ball, which struck Feltner on the back of his head, at 92.7 mph.

Barcelona may have won the LaLiga title on Sunday, but their outstanding domestic campaign has been somewhat overshadowed by turmoil off the pitch including deepening financial problems and a refereeing scandal that could drag on for years. Spanish prosecutors in March filed a complaint over alleged payments Barcelona made from 2001 to 2018 totalling 7.3 million euros ($8 million) to firms owned by former refereeing official Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira. A Barcelona court has agreed to take on the case.

Australia’s Newcrest Mining Ltd said on Monday it will recommend that its shareholders vote in favour of Newmont Corp’s final takeover offer that values the gold miner at A$26.2 billion ($17.8 billion). If the deal gets Newcrest shareholders’ approval and other regulatory nods, it would lift Newmont’s gold output to nearly double its nearest rival Barrick Gold Corp, further solidifying Newmont’s position as the world’s biggest gold producer.

The Broncos bolstered their quarterback room Sunday with the signing of former XFL and Cowboys quarterback Ben DiNucci, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
DiNucci, 26, has spent the last year away from the NFL after Dallas waived the 2020 seventh-round pick last August. This past spring, he made waves during a stint as a starter for the XFL’s Seattle Sea Dragons, an impressive run that earned him a training camp invitation from the Broncos.
While Sunday’s news doesn’t guarantee he’ll earn a roster spot, the opportunity will afford DiNucci a chance to compete for one this summer.
