National Treasure dashed across the finish line first on Saturday to win the 148th edition of the Preakness Stakes.
National Treasure, ridden by John Velazquez and trained by Bob Baffert, finished with a 1:55.12 time ahead of Blazing Sevens at the Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore. Mage, the 2023 Kentucky Derby winner, finished 3rd.
Baffert, who missed his second consecutive Kentucky Derby earlier this month because of a suspension, now holds the record for the most Preakness victories as a trainer with eight after Saturday’s win. The previous record was seven.

National Treasure wins the Preakness, denying Mage a shot at the Triple Crown
Fresh off winning the Kentucky Derby, Mage entered the 148th running of the Preakness Stakes hoping to secure the second leg of horse racing’s Triple Crown.
Mage, however, would be denied as it was National Treasure who came away the winner of the Preakness.
National Treasure and Mage both got off to a decent start, and National Treasure took the lead into the first turn, followed by Coffeewithchris and Blazing Sevens, with Mage in fourth.
There will be no Triple Crown this year as Mage, the Kentucky Derby winner, couldn’t chase down National Treasure at Pimlico.

Blue Jays starting pitcher Alek Manoah saw his outing cut short on Saturday, by no fault of his own. In fact, his sixth-inning removal from the tightly contested game against the rival Orioles, stemmed from a mound visit from manager John Schneider.
After Schneider was seen briefly discussing strategy with Manoah and Toronto’s infielders, home plate umpire Dan Iassogna approached the mound to relay the fact that this was the Toronto’s second mound visit of the inning.
MLB prohibits managers from visiting the mound twice in an inning.
The San Diego Padres have been one of baseball’s biggest disappointments through 45 games of the season.
Expectations ran high after San Diego surprisingly committed to one of MLB’s highest payrolls through a flurry of off-season moves.
Xander Bogaerts came in on a massive free agent signing. Yu Darvish, Manny Machado and Jake Cronenworth signed big extensions.
Juan Soto, Josh Hader would spend the first full season with the Padres, with Nelson Cruz and Matt Carpenter providing depth.
Yet as of Saturday afternoon, the Padres are 20-25, 8.
Frank Caliendo’s John Madden impression is near perfect. But according to Charles Barkley, Madden was not amused.
In the latest episode of Barstool’s Spittin’ Chiclets podcast, Barkley said Madden once considered legal action against the comedian.
“I remember this phone call I got from my agent,” Barkley recalled. “He says, ‘Hey, John Madden wants to talk to you.’ He called me, I said, ‘Hey, you’re the best. It’s an honor and a privilege.
Trey Lance has not stopped his efforts to improve at the quarterback position, despite Brock Purdy being slated to be the 49ers’ starting quarterback after the departure of Jimmy Garoppolo to the Raiders.

A.J. Brown had a message for concerned Eagles fans on Saturday after the star receiver appeared to fall off his bike with a vehicle approaching while participating in a charity bike race in Philadelphia.
The shocking scene unfolded on Instagram Live as the two-time Pro Bowler recorded himself biking during a race at the sixth annual Eagles Autism Challenge. Moments after Brown switched the camera from his face to the road, the 25-year-old suddenly dropped his phone while appearing to avoid being hit by a vehicle off-camera before the IG Live stream ended abruptly.
