Is the Big 12 in the middle of an identity crisis?
As former powerhouses Oklahoma and Texas leave to go towards the SEC, the conference is left reeling and trying to figure out how to regrow their brand outside of having Texas and Oklahoma. When new commissioner Brett Yormark stepped in, he began to try and make the conference a bit cooler, giving conference champions WWE title belts and having Nelly perform at halftime of the Big 12 conference championship football game.

The two most prominent NBA insiders are Shams Charania and Adrian Wojnarowski. They often battle one another to be the first to break NBA news. Pat McAfee hosts a show on ESPN, and shows on the network traditionally feature Wojnarowski, since ESPN pays him.
But McAfee always calls on Charania, who works for The Athletic, because Charania has been appearing on McAfee’s show since before the former NFL punter went to ESPN.

Patrick Cantlay turned in a masterful performance on and around the greens, which is why he holds the early lead at Pinehurst No. 2.
If you have followed any coverage leading up to the U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2, you know that this course is all about the greens.
So, to post a solid score, you must have your short game on point around these crazy putting surfaces. You have to make plenty of putts, too.
INDIANAPOLIS—It’s so huge you can’t smell the chlorine.
The dominant sensory experience upon entering any pool area is the olfactory assault of chlorine, the chemical that keeps the water clean. More than the sight of the blue water or the sound of splashing, the smell of a pool is pungent and universal. But that’s not the case in Lucas Oil Stadium, which has been repurposed for the next 10 days as the world’s largest indoor swimming venue.
The Boston Celtics are up 3–0 on the Dallas Mavericks in the 2024 NBA Finals, and could win a championship on Friday night in Game 4.
Forward Jayson Tatum is ready to add a championship to his resume, but not just for himself. He wants to win the title for all of his teammates, too. So, he isn’t really focused on the additional accolades winning the finals can bring, like being named the NBA Finals MVP.
“Finals MVP or whatever, a champion is a champion. That’s the goal,” Tatum told Bleacher Report‘s Chris Haynes.
With the calendar hitting the middle of June, we are quickly getting into the fantasy football draft season. To help build your strategies and give you a look into what your drafts might look like, I’ve done yet another of my one-man, 10-round mock drafts to help you determine which fantasy players might be picked where in your upcoming leagues.
This mock draft includes 12 teams and is based on a full PPR scoring system. Each team is required to start one quarterback, two running backs, two wide receivers, one tight end and two flex starters (non-super flex).
PINEHURST, N.C. — Patrick Cantlay is on the short list of the best golfers without a major title. He’s off to a good start to remove his name from that list.
The eight-time PGA Tour winner and ninth-ranked player in the world shot 5-under 65 Thursday morning at Pinehurst No. 2 in the opening round of the 124th U.S. Open, leading by one over Ludvig Åberg with the afternoon wave still set to tee off.
Cantlay, a 32-year-old California native who played collegiately at UCLA, is making his 30th major start. He has never missed a cut in the U.S.

Pinehurst No. 2 forced Morikawa to get creative in his opening U.S. Open round, but his finish allowed him to gain momentum.
Collin Morikawa signed for an even-par 70 to begin the 124th U.S. Open. It was a day of ups and downs for the two-time major winner as Pinehurst No. 2 gave him a run for his money.
He recorded five birdies, a bogey, and two double bogeys. Morikawa struggled to gain momentum, but he flipped the switch after his double on the par-3 15th. The California native went birdie-birdie on 17 and 18 to finish on a high note.
1. Tom Brady joined me this week for a brief interview on the latest SI Media With Jimmy Traina podcast.
The conversation focused on the seven-time Super Bowl winner’s transition into the Fox broadcast booth this upcoming season.
I asked Brady what he thinks his biggest challenge will be when he joins Kevin Burkhardt on Fox’s A-team in September.
“The important part for me would be how do I continue to make it fun for people to enjoy the viewing experience,” said Brady.
Caitlin Clark being left off the U.S. Olympic women’s basketball roster for the upcoming Games in Paris is one of the most moronic, head-scratching decisions in the history of modern sports. Many are pinning the blame on Cheryl Reeve, not only because she is the U.S. team’s head coach, but because of her past comments about Clark.
USA Basketball is not only predictably refusing to comment about Reeve’s recent criticisms of Clark, but also making the claim Reeve, who also coaches the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx, doesn’t have all that much say about how the U.S.
