Both the Longhorns and Sooners have made it clear they want to leave for the SEC a year early, but a lot of other moving parts make the situation messy.
On July 21, 2021, news broke that Texas and Oklahoma were planning to leave the Big 12 and join the SEC starting in ’25.
After the college football universe overcame the shock and awe of the news, it collectively cast doubt on the timing of the move: No way they’ll stay in the Big 12 for four more years, right?
A year and a half later, that question remains unanswered.

ESPN has spent the better part of 24 hours dragging poor Dan Orlovsky through the mud over his pretty awful list of top-5 NFL QBs of all time.
Seriously, Dan’s been trampled on by just about everyone, from Keyshawn Johnson to Stephen A. Smith.
And here he was thinking that running out of the back of the end zone was going to be the worst moment of his career.
Nope. It was, until Orlovsky put together this lightning rod of a list! Behold:

Oh dear god.

Dillon Brooks’s flagrant foul on Donovan Mitchell was another step in the wrong direction for Memphis.
It brings me truly no pleasure to say the Grizzlies are teetering on the edge between lovable challenger and incredibly annoying. And they are increasingly tipping toward the wrong direction.
I’ve had an appreciation for the Grizz going back to the Grit and Grind days of Mike Conley, Marc Gasol, Zach Randolph and Tony Allen. The current group has been a worthy successor to those franchise legends.

The Lakers star would need a career-best to topple the all-time mark.
LeBron James pulled another step closer to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in his chase to become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer on Thursday when he scored 26 points in a 112–111 win over the Pacers. The performance left him exactly 62 points off of tying historic mark heading into a weekend matchup against the Pelicans.
Though James theoretically has a chance to catch Abdul-Jabbar in New Orleans on Saturday, the task will be easier said than done.

Tyrese Haliburton is an NBA All-Star after Wally Szczerbiak’s weird rant against him earlier this season.
One of the strangest media moments of this NBA season came when former player Wally Szczerbiak, now an analyst with the Knicks, went on a rant against Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton. After the Knicks beat the Pacers, Szczerbiak called Haliburton a “wannabe, fake All-Star” in an apparent attempt to boost the All-Star candidacy of New York’s Julius Randle and Jalen Brunson.

Pat Forde provides a preview and a pick for Saturday’s biggest game.
Forget what’s happening on Tobacco Road; Purdue vs. Indiana is the best rivalry game of the weekend. Purdue is absolutely deserving of its No. 1 ranking, playing at a high level behind the tower of power that is 7’4” Zach Edey. And yet, the Boilers are overdue to lose and this is the spot to drop one.
No. 1 Purdue vs. No. 21 Indiana

Aaron Rodgers said this week that he thought it was quote: ‘interesting’ that he was not involved in any rumored Green Bay Packers trade talks. Rodgers also raved about his former offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, who is now with the New York Jets. Former teammate Davante Adams responded to a tweet asking which neighborhood Rodgers would move to by saying quote: ‘mine.’ Then, at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Rodgers had this exchange on the broadcast, saying that he is quote: ‘not going to San Fran.

Tony Romo plays a lot of golf, and is a good player, which is exactly why Colin Cowherd thinks he’s regressing as an NFL analyst. In fact, Cowherd thinks anyone who loves golf eventually loses sight of their job.
Romo made his debut as an NFL analyst for CBS in 2017. While most would agree he was a refreshing and downright good voice in the booth, he’s no longer the ‘new guy’ and some are growing tired of the former NFL quarterback’s commentary.
CBS itself has reportedly urged Romo to take his job more seriously during a meeting prior to last season.

The backlash seems reminiscent of what Joe Buck went through.
1. I will not be earning my pay from SI today because I know I’m supposed to come in hot with a blazing take on Tony Romo and Andrew Marchand’s report that CBS held an “intervention” with Romo before the season to get him back on track as a broadcaster, but I just don’t have one.
CBS denied there was an intervention, saying, “To call this an intervention is a complete mischaracterization; we meet regularly with our on-air talent.
