The United States’ inexperience showed in the women’s team’s opening 3×3 match of the week — dropping the first Olympic pool play game 17-13 to Germany.
The U.S. 3×3 women’s basketball began their Olympic play and gold medal defense with a 17-13 loss to Germany to open group play. The team — made up of Hailey Van Lith, Cierra Burdick, Dearica Hamby, and Rhyne Howard — has only had a few weeks together, and that was evident in a mistake-filled game on Tuesday afternoon in Paris.

With Simone Biles at her showstopping best, Team USA scored 171.296 to finish well ahead of Italy and Brazil to win the team gymnastics gold medal at the Paris Olympics.

NFL Hall of Famer Terrell Davis is facing turbulence in his P.R. tug-o-war against United Airlines after one of his United flights ended in handcuffs.

In the latest development, Davis released a statement from United on Tuesday, stating that he was banned from flying with the airline due to his incident on July 13.
“My family will never unsee me, nor will I ever forget, being taken off an airplanes in handcuffs for simply asking for a cup of ice,” Davis shared on his Instagram on Tuesday.

The US Men’s National Team accomplished something on Tuesday that it hadn’t since 2000: it advanced to the quarterfinals of the Olympic soccer tournament!
After starting the group stage with a 3-0 loss against France, Team USA followed with a 4-1 win over New Zealand and needed a good result against Guinea to secure its place in the Knockout Stage. 
That didn’t prove to be much of a challenge for the American squad, which scored twice in the first 30 minutes in front of… well, a mostly empty stadium. 
The U.S. side just had to hang on the rest of the way, which it did.

It’s not a stretch to say that the 2024 Chicago White Sox might go down as one of the worst teams in the history of Major League Baseball. 
The White Sox lost their 15th consecutive game on Monday night, falling 8-5 to the Kansas City Royals to move their record to a dismal 27-82. Even on just July 30, the White Sox are no longer able to finish above .500. They’ve won just 24.8 percent of their games, putting them on pace to finish 40-122. 
40 wins and 122 losses. The 1962 New York Mets had the most losses in baseball history at “just” 120.
