Athletics announcer Glen Kuiper received widespread criticism Friday night when he appeared to use a racial slur during Oakland’s 12–8 win against the Royals in Kansas City.
Late Friday night, the Athletics issued a statement following the incident.
“The language used by Glen Kuiper during today’s pregame broadcast is unacceptable,” the team wrote. “The Oakland Athletics do not condone such language. We are working to address the situation.

The Suns got a much-needed victory over the Nuggets, outlasting Denver 121–114 to cut the series deficit to 2–1. However, one key Suns member did not contribute muich to the win, leading to a benching down the stretch.

LOUISVILLE, Ky.—A Kentucky Derby of attrition took its biggest blow yet Saturday morning, when favorite Forte was scratched just 10 hours before the race.
Forte is the fifth horse to scratch since the field was entered on Monday. A sixth Derby contender, Wild On Ice, was euthanized after a fatal training accident last week.
The news came after speculation swirled for two days about Forte’s status. He stumbled during a morning gallop a couple of days ago, and rumors were rampant Thursday and Friday that the Florida Derby winner might not make it to the race.

According to multiple reports Forte, the morning-line favorite at the 2023 Kentucky Derby, has been scratched from the field.
Forte, winner of four-straight races, opened as the 3-1 favorite earlier this week. Those odds moved to 4-1 on Saturday morning, ahead of this news. Forte was the favorite for a reason, with wins in six of seven races, including the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile and the Florida Derby.

Former MVP quarterback Cam Newton hasn’t played a down in the NFL since 2021, when he started five games for the Panthers in an ill-fated return to the team that drafted him after a year with the Patriots.
Newton went unsigned in 2022, and the 2010 Heisman Trophy winner has an unusual theory as to why that is. On Undefined, a podcast hosted by CBS Sports’s Josina Anderson, Newton suggested a relationship between his unemployment and the length of his hair.
“It’s been hinted,” Newton said. “And I’m not changing.

Baseball broadcaster Glen Kuiper made an incredibly unfortunate mistake Friday night during the A’s/Royals game.
Kuiper, who is a broadcaster for the A’s, was trying to hype the Negro Leagues Museum prior to the game starting. The museum is attempting to fundraise $25 million for new facilities, according to The Associated Press.
Instead of saying the word “Negro” when talking about the museum, the popular broadcaster accidentally said the n-word.
“We had a phenomenal day today. N***er league museum and Arthur Bryant’s Barbeque,” Kuiper accidentally stated.

GUADALAJARA, Mexico — Hours before a scheduled weigh-in, outside a centuries old theatre in the heart of the city, hundreds of fans pressed against a hastily erected metal fence. A young boy held up a piece of pink posterboard with Gracias Canelo scribbled across it. Whenever a car pulled up familiar chants—Ca-nel-o, Ca-nel-o—would bubble up from the crowd. By midday temperatures approached 90. No one seemed to care.
They were there for Canelo Álvarez, the undisputed super middleweight champion who will defend his titles against John Ryder on Saturday.

With both Max Verstappen and Sergio Pérez in the F1 title fight, Christian Horner is the man in the middle
It has been a dream start to the 2023 Formula 1 season for Red Bull. The defending Constructors’ Champions are the clear class of the field, having secured victory at each of the first four races of the 2023 season. Along the way, drivers Max Verstappen and Sergio Pérez have finished 1-2 in two different races, first the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix and then a week ago in Azerbaijan.
