England is through to the semifinals of the 2024 Euros, after a penalty shootout win over Switzerland.
But as is so often the case, the headline doesn’t cover the details of the story. England once again trailed late in the match, going down in the 75th minute after a fantastic, much deserved goal from Switzerland.
Just five minutes later though, against the run of play, England scored to equalize from well outside the box.
The team clung to a tie through 90 minutes, despite being thoroughly outplayed. Switzerland’s expected goals were 1.21, compared to England’s 0.52.

Thompson fired off an impressive 62 Saturday at the John Deere Classic to hold a two shot lead headed into Sunday.
It seems Davis Thompson has some unfinished business to complete as he heads into the final day of the John Deere Classic.
He is the 54-hole leader at TPC Deere Run after he carded a bogey-free 9-under 62 to sit at 21-under total. Thompson built off his impressive 63-67 start with a phenomenal performance.

Longtime New York Yankees play-by-play announcer Michael Kay apparently doesn’t have a sense of humor and takes his team wayyyyyyy too seriously.
On July 4th, two players from both the Yankees and Cincinnati Reds engaged in a standoff after the  national anthem was played. The goal for each pair of players was to be the last ones on the field in an attempt to humorously show their patriotism.
In all seriousness, what’s wrong with that? Absolutely nothing.

Well, one of the bigger questions following the NHL Draft has officially been answered: first-overall pick Macklin Celebrini is headed to the National Hockey League.
The 18-year-old reigning Hobey Baker Award winner as the best player in college hockey was the consensus No. 1 in this year’s draft, and as soon as the San Jose Sharks won the draft lottery, it was essentially written in stone that they’d take Celebrini.

A cyclist has been killed in a tragic crash during the fourth stage of the Tour Of Austria.
Norwegian cyclist Andre Drege, 25, died Saturday during the fourth stage of this year’s race. According to the BBC, Drege died during the five-day race’s fourth stage. This stage runs from St. Johann Alpendorf to Kals and features a section where riders have to descend the Grossglockner — Austria’s largest mountain — and it was there that Drege sustained fatal injuries.

It’s the beginning of a new era for Alabama football. For the first time since 2006, Nick Saban won’t be calling the shots from the sideline for the Crimson Tide. And it’ll be up to former Washington head coach Kalen DeBoer to fill some very big shoes.
Saban was known for his no-nonsense coaching style. For 17 seasons, the Tide played “Joyless Murderball.” They’d dominate their opponents and move onto the next without fuss.

You would think that Iga Swiatek – the women’s No. 1 tennis player in the world – would have no problem advancing past the third round of Wimbledon.
After all, she had won 21 consecutive matches, and is fresh off her fourth French Open win in June. Surely, the Polish superstar could handle the No. 35-ranked Yulia Putintseva, right?
Wrong.
Swiatek lost to her opponent from Kazakhstan in three sets, 6-3, 1-6, 2-6. Wimbledon continues to be a nightmare of a destination for her, as she has never reached beyond the quarterfinals of this tournament in her career.
