The now-former NFL quarterback committed to Michigan for football instead of beginning a baseball career.
Tom Brady announced his retirement, this time “for good,” on Wednesday after 23 seasons in the NFL.
But, before committing to a football career, Brady once considered a career in baseball. He was drafted in the 18th round of the 1995 MLB draft as a catcher by the Montreal Expos, who relocated to Washington in 2004 and became the Nationals.
Obviously, Brady decided not to continue a career in baseball and instead committed to Michigan for college football.

A Sunday full of NFL Conference Championship Games was derailed by the narrative of “messy” officiating.
Joining OutKick 360 on Wednesday to discuss the turbulent Sunday for game officials was longtime FOX NFL rules analyst Mike Pereira.
With a 14-year career on NFL sidelines, Pereira has seen plenty of action go sideways, only for the officials to step in and try to make sense of it all.

Tampa Bay is left with a unique salary cap situation going forward after Brady called it a career.
For the second time in as many years, Tom Brady announced his retirement on Wednesday, bringing an end to a 23-year career. Though his playing days are over, his impact on the Buccaneers’ payroll is not quite finished yet.
That’s because of the seven-time Super Bowl champion re-structured his contract with Tampa Bay to include deferred money. The exact amount that would count against the team for the 2023 season was dependent upon whether or not Brady retired or signed with another team.

Chargers owner Dean Spanos described him as ‘one of a kind’ and ‘one of the best judges of football talent in NFL history.’
