North Carolina‘s NCAA tournament chances suffered a major blow on Saturday after the Tar Heels were beaten by archrival Duke, 62–57. Given UNC’s lackluster résumé, a win over the Blue Devils was considered crucial towards the team’s hopes of qualifying for March Madness.

Things got ugly in a hurry between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Florida Panthers when Pens forward Jason Zucker collided with Florida goalie Sergei Bobrovsky.

Conference tournament season is in full swing, and the NCAA men’s and women’s basketball tournaments are close at hand. 32 automatic bids are up for grabs in the men’s tournament this year, with 36 at-large bids left to be distributed among teams that didn’t win their conference tournaments.
On the men’s side, conference tournament season began in earnest with the Atlantic Sun tournament tipping off on Feb.

Morant’s first signature shoe hit shelves in February.
Nike released a statement Saturday saying that the company will “support” sponsorship partner Ja Morant amid the NBA’s investigation into the Grizzlies guard.
Morant will be away from the Grizzlies for two games after sharing a video on his Instagram account in which he flashed a gun on camera, the team announced earlier Saturday.

Smith-Schuster is heading into free agency, but coming off a win in the 2023 Super Bowl, he seemed pretty clear on where he’d like to continue playing.
TMZ Sports asked Smith-Schuster about Mahomes and his upcoming free agency, and JuJu repeatedly praised the two-time Super Bowl champ.
“Ah, man,” JuJu said. “He’s the MVP. He’s a dog, man.”
He repeated it again, when asked if he’d like to return to the Kansas City Chiefs.
“Yeah, man,” Smith-Schuster said.

March Madness is officially underway in women’s college basketball, as Tennessee Tech became the first school in the nation to punch its ticket to the big dance.
The Golden Eagles (22–9) clinched a 2023 NCAA tournament berth on Saturday after defeating Little Rock, 54–46, to win the Ohio Valley Conference championship. The victory secured the school’s first trip to the NCAA tournament since 2000 its 11th berth all-time.

Jon Jones is making his coveted return to the octagon on Saturday night, slated for the headlining heavyweight bout against Cyril Gane on the main card at UFC 285. Ahead of the showdown, Jones received some words of encouragement from Tom Brady. 
The recently retired NFL quarterback congratulated “Bones” on his return to action ahead of his fight against Gane.

Former NBA player Anthony Morrow is now facing kidnapping and strangulation charges after being arrested last month in Charlotte.
On February 10, police in Charlotte, North Carolina arrested Morrow. The 37-year-old allegedly assaulted a woman who he was reportedly dating at the time. According to court documents, Morrow was alleged to have “[struck] her multiple times with his fists” and “[squeezed] her neck with his hands.”
