To say Rory McIlroy left Pinehurst in a hurry on Sunday after finishing runner-up to Bryson DeChambeau in the 2024 U.S. Open would be an understatement. The 35-year-old was already in the air on his private jet less than an hour after DeChambeau’s tournament-winning putt found the bottom of the cup on the 72nd hole.
Part of McIlroy’s wicked-fast exit included him avoiding any and all media after what will be remembered as ‘The U.S. Open Rory Gave Away.

It is time for another edition of The Skinny Post talking all things NFL.
We have passed the midway point in June and have just over a month to go until NFL training camps kick off in earnest. Thankfully House of the Dragon is back to help us bide a bit more time.
The offseason drought makes talking about the NFL a bit more challenging than usual but that only makes it more fun. Michael Peterson and RJ Ochoa are once again up for the latest edition of The Skinny Post to discuss all things Football League of National.

The San Francisco 49ers and wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk are having difficulties coming to an agreement on a contract extension. And a conversation with Washington Commanders rookie Jayden Daniels might shed some light on the situation.
The 49ers drafted Aiyuk in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. As a first-round-pick, Aiyuk signed the standard four-year rookie contract with a fifth-year team option.
Obviously, the 49ers exercised that option, which means Aiyuk is in the final year of his deal. However, San Francisco could have extended Aiyuk last off-season, but they didn’t.

A Kentucky district court has issued a preliminary injunction against the Biden Administration’s recent rewrite of Title IX. The ruling will prevent the U.S. Department of Education “from implementing, enacting, enforcing, or taking any action” to enforce the new regulations in six states: Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Virginia and West Virginia.

The European mind couldn’t comprehend what happened Sunday during the Orioles/Phillies game.
Fleet Week is currently underway in Baltimore, and it’s an event spanning several days to honor our great military and put on some cool displays.
The displays included some fly-overs, and one interrupted the Orioles and Phillies during the sixth inning.
The game was briefly halted by the umpire because an F-35 stealth fighter jet was roaring through the sky not too far above the stadium.
Check out the incredible footage in the video below, and let me know your thoughts at David.

The WNBA and its frequently subservient TV networks on Sunday continued to try to downplay Indiana Fever point guard Caitlin Clark – the most popular star the league has ever seen, literally in record TV ratings numbers, by the way.
This was CBS’ opening for its nationally televised Indiana-Chicago Sky game at noon Sunday:
“The WNBA crowd pours into watch two of the hottest names in sports. The Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese arriving in style to face the Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark.”
Reese top billing over Clark? Really.

What the …
Confirmation that Elly De La Cruz is actually human is spotty at best. I mean, everything about him says “I am actually a human,” but then he does something like this and you have to question it.

On Sunday afternoon a routine pickoff attempt became one of the most exciting plays of the day as De La Cruz saw the smallest possible opening and decided it was worth going for it.
