The Colorado Avalanche will be without captain Gabriel Landeskog for two straight seasons.
Landeskog — who hasn’t played a game since he hoisted the Stanley Cup in 2022 — will undergo knee surgery that will sideline him for the entire 2023-24 NHL season.

ESPN’s John Anderson came under fire Monday night after making an insensitive joke about Golden Knights defenseman Zach Whitecloud while calling highlights of Game 3 of the Western Conference semifinals between the Oilers and Vegas.
On Tuesday, Whitecloud addressed the media, revealing that he’s since had a conversation with Anderson and accepted the apology from the ESPN analyst, via SinBin Vegas. During his media session, Whitecloud reportedly broke into tears.

Former San Diego State and Bills punter Matt Araiza was not present during a 2021 gang rape, according to a statement from prosecutors in a transcript and audio from the San Diego District Attorney’s office obtained by ESPN and Yahoo Sports.
Araiza, an All-American in ’21 and a sixth-round draft pick in 2022, was released by Buffalo on Aug. 27 after reports emerged that he had been named as a defendant in a gang rape lawsuit.
The lawsuit alleged that Araiza and two teammates gang-raped a girl, who was 17 at the time, at an off-campus party near the SDSU campus in the fall of ’21.

Donna Kelce — the star of Super Bowl LVII — may have leaked some details of the NFL schedule, which won’t be released until later this week.
Kelce, mother of Chiefs tight end Jason Kelce and Eagles center Jason Kelce (but you knew that), made a Facebook that appeared to allude to the upcoming schedule.

Stephen A. Smith was not thrilled about Julius Randle’s performance in the Knicks’ 109–101 Game 4 loss to the Heat on Monday night.
Randle finished with 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the floor, nine rebounds and six of the New York’s 17 turnovers in the game while also fouling out with 3:08 to play in the final quarter. In addition to Randle fouling out, the Heat outrebounded the Knicks, 44–35, and failed to secure vital defensive rebounds in the final stretch of the game.
During the regular season, the Knicks were No. 3 in the league in rebounding.

It is going to take a special performance to beat the LSU women’s basketball team in 2023/24, but if anyone is equipted do it, it’s Caitlin Clark. The 21-year-old sharpshooter swept all the National Player of the Year honors after one of the most dominant college basketball seasons of all-time.
Clark averaged 27.8 points, 7.1 rebounds and 8.6 assists per game last season. She also knocked down 140 threes, many of which from another stratosphere.
