Remember playing wiffle ball in the backyard growing up and always going to the iconic Gary Sheffield stance? Now, imagine being Gary’s high school baseball son, Noah Sheffield, rocking that same stance and then hitting a walk-off homer to the moon to send your team to the next round of the playoffs.
Not a bad start to the weekend!

Former Texans starting safety Jonathan Owens signed his contract with the Packers earlier this week, with superstar Olympian wife Simone Biles by his side.
Biles posted a picture on Twitter with Owens at Lambeau Field and another of him signing his contract with the team, as she asked her social media following for any recommendations in their new city.
The wife of longtime kicker Mason Crosby responded to Biles implying that the team had moved on from her husband, who is a free agent this offseason after 16 years in Green Bay.

Jalen Hurts added another accolade to his stunning list of accomplishments as he earned his master’s degree in human relations from the University of Oklahoma on Friday night.
Dr. David Surratt, the vice president of student affairs and dean of students at Oklahoma, tweeted a video congratulating Hurts on receiving his diploma during the university’s commencement exercise on Friday.
“Congratulations! 👏🏽👏🏽🎓💯 @JalenHurts @UofOklahoma @OUArtsSciences @OU_Football,” Surratt tweeted.

In case you were wondering whether former safety Zach Edwards enjoyed his four years playing for Tommy Tuberville at Cincinnati, I’ll save you the time — he didn’t.
In fact, things were allegedly so bad under Tuberville that Edwards believes anyone who was forced to play for the now-Alabama senator deserves “reparations.”
Yep — reparations.
“Okay hear me out, there needs to be some type of reparations for those who had to play under this man. I don’t think y’all understand…” Edwards tweeted earlier this week.

Well, well, well. What do we have here?
Phoenix Mercury star Brittney Griner stood tall with her teammates Friday night while the “Star Spangled Banner” rang out at Footprint Center in Arizona.
It was just a preseason game for the Mercury, but it was Griner’s first WNBA game since the 2021 Finals.
She, of course, took an involuntary leave of absence from the team while she served nearly 10 months in a Russian prison. That’s after she pleaded guilty to drug charges when authorities discovered cannabis oil vape canisters in her luggage.

Robert Griffin III was among the many NFL fans who were excited when Dan and Tanya Snyder announced that they have reached an agreement to sell the Commanders to 76ers and Devils co-owner Josh Harris on Friday.
The Snyders are reportedly set to sell the franchise to Harris and his business partners of Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment for $6.05 billion, according to ESPN. Griffin, who spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Washington franchise, was thrilled about the change in leadership.
“Overjoyed FOR THE FANS of the Washington Commanders and it’s players.

New York Knicks fans proved that they have no idea how to act like they belong in the playoffs.
After last night’s Game 6 elimination loss to the Miami Heat, the Knicks faithful suddenly turned into the angry kid that didn’t get his way and began tearing down posters and billboards outside Madison Square Garden.
One player they targeted? Julius Randle, who like pretty much everyone on the team except Jalen Brunson was nowhere to be found in the playoffs. Maybe he was too busy kissing his wife.
So just as the Knicks are gonna Knick, their fanbase is gonna fan.

With former quarterback Tom Brady retired, the Buccaneers are starting over again from square one.
Tampa Bay is in the process of rebuilding an offense that struggled even with Brady, limping to a 25th-place finish in scoring offense in 2022.
However, Rick Stroud, the Buccaneers beat writer for The Tampa Bay Times, believes another veteran free agent could potentially find a home with Tampa Bay in former Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott.
“What they really could use… is a short-yardage guy and a guy that has the veteran experience,” Stroud told 92.
