The Jets’ reported trade for quarterback Aaron Rodgers elicited a number of reactions from around the NFL on Monday, including an interesting soundbite from a key figure at the center of the negotiations.
Shortly after the news broke, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst stepped to the podium for his pre-NFL draft press conference, which expectedly became all about the megadeal.

One team’s trash is another team’s coach. After an unceremonious split with the Boston Celtics, Ime Udoka will be joining the Houston Rockets as their new head coach. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski confirmed the hire Monday.
The Rockets and Udoka look forward to a clean slate after what’s been a rough year for both sides.
Boston suspended Ime Udoka for the 2022-23 season after they discovered that the coach had an “inappropriate workplace relationship” with a female member within the organization.

Three days to go. Let’s dive in …
• I said this morning that I doubt the Eagles take Bijan Robinson at No. 10. I feel that way because so much of their history says they won’t: Over Howie Roseman’s 23 drafts in Philly, they’ve taken five backs in the top 100 picks, and none in the top 50. Since he became GM in 2010, there’s been one back taken in the top 100 by the Eagles—and Roseman just let that back, Miles Sanders, walk without incident in free agency.
My gut tells me they’re going to stick to their guns on that.

With former Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers on his way to the Jets, football observers are weighing which team won a trade months in the making.
On the one hand, New York—Super Bowl-free since upsetting the Baltimore Colts to win it all in the 1968 season—received one of the 10 greatest quarterbacks in NFL history two years removed from an MVP season.
On the other hand, Green Bay is now the owner of three new draft picks, in addition to a better first-round draft pick this year after a pick swap.

Aaron Rodgers is set to be a Jet after the organization reportedly agreed to a blockbuster trade with the Packers on Monday.
It’s safe to say the young New York nucleus is fired up over the deal. Just moments after the trade was reported, both running back Breece Hall and cornerback Sauce Gardner updated their Twitter profile pictures to an image of Rodgers.
The Jets stars both now display a photo of Rodgers in a California football uniform, in which he’s rocking his old No. 8 Golden Bears jersey.
Rodgers is expected to wear the No.

The Jets and Packers finally agreed on a deal Monday that sends legendary quarterback Aaron Rodgers to New York for three draft picks.
Rodgers, who likely will wear a new number in 2023, now joins a very fun AFC East that will not be short of storylines heading into this upcoming season.
Rodgers’s move to the Jets means Zach Wilson, the quarterback the team picked No. 2 overall in the 2021 NFL draft, will no longer be the team’s starter. Wilson had a rough 2022 season that saw him get benched down the stretch.
