In the immortal words of Brad Pitt as Billy Beane: How can you not be romantic about baseball?
It’s hard to imagine not feeling something while watching this clip of 33-year-old Pirates minor league shortstop Drew Maggi being informed that the day had finally arrived: he’s going to The Show.
Maggi had the news delivered to him by Altoona Curve manager Callix Crabbe in the clubhouse in front of the entire team.

Dion Dawkins is not only one of the best linemen in the NFL, he’s nice at cornhole. The 28-year-old doesn’t get to tailgate his own games, but would have no issue fitting in with Bills Mafia in the parking lot!
The American Cornhole League held its SuperHole IV event on Friday night in Topeka, Kansas. Dawkins and a group of Buffalo players partnered with professionals for the pro-am tournament, but none were as dominant as their offensive tackle.

Yes, I am the same guy who recently wrote that I am tired of “prospect promotion” videos. But that’s for players who are blue-chippers and inevitable big leaguers. However, I’m all-in on videos of guys finally getting the call after years in the minors. That’s what happened Sunday for 33-year-old Pittsburgh Pirates “prospect” Drew Maggi.
The Arizona Diamondbacks originally drafted Maggi in 2008. But, he chose to go to college. The Pirates later selected him in 2010.
He spent five seasons in the Pittsburgh organization before bouncing around for several seasons.

When headaches plague Leigh Joseph, she doesn’t immediately reach for the Tylenol bottle. When winter’s flu strikes, cough medicines and throat soothers are acquired, but not from the pharmacy or the drug store aisle of her local supermarket. Instead, Joseph, a Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) ethnobotanist, looks to the great outdoors for remedy. The natural world, she attests, can be a great source of healing and nourishment.

Gervonta Davis is unofficially the biggest name in boxing after stopping Ryan Garcia in the seventh round of a 12-round super fight on Saturday night. But the loud-talking, hard-hitting 28-year-old is letting his 24-year-old opponent off of the hook.
A few days prior to the most-anticipated fight of the year, Garcia agreed to put his entire purse on the line. Davis and his camp were not only shocked, but completely beside themselves.
The former was set to make $350,000 for the fight, with the latter cashing $1.5 million. They were to split a percentage of the PPV sales.
