Eastview played well for large segments of Thursday’s Class 4A semifinal at Williams Arena.
But the beginning and end of the game? Well, those two segments belonged to the Royals.
A scintillating start and strong finish powered the third-seeded Royals to a 68-48 victory.
“I just thought the kids fought hard,” Hopkins coach Tara Starks said. “I told them before the game, I knew Eastview was going to fight, and fight hard, and we just couldn’t let them want it more than we did.”
Hopkins will meet top-seeded Maple Grove in the state final at 8 p.m. Saturday at Williams Arena.
DeMarcus Lawrence told a Seattle blogger Thursday that he was “not going to win a Super Bowl” in Dallas, a comment that led Cowboys star Micah Parsons to respond: “This what rejection and envy look like! This some clown s—!
The first couple of free agency waves are over and the San Francisco 49ers have seen more players going than coming.
Even their additions haven’t been major, and it leaves their biggest NFL draft needs in a relatively similar order to what they were prior to free agency. Now that the 49ers have at least some free agency moves out of the way, it’s time to reassess what their needs are heading into the 2025 NFL draft.
This year’s draft will be especially important now that the 49ers have put so much of their Super Bowl hopes into their 2025 crop of draft picks.
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Simeon Cottle had 32 points to match his career high and Kennesaw State held off New Mexico State 80-77 in a Conference USA Tournament quarterfinal on Thursday night.
Cottle shot 8 for 12 (4 for 7 from 3-point range) and 12 of 14 from the free-throw line for the fourth-seeded Owls (19-13), who will play No. 1 seed Liberty in a Friday semifinal.

CHICAGO (AP) — Coby White scored 31 points, and the Chicago Bulls beat the Brooklyn Nets 116-110 on Thursday night.
White extended his streak of 20-point games to a career-best seven, helping the Bulls rally to win their season-high fourth in a row.
Kevin Huerter added 18 points and nine rebounds. Tre Jones scored 18 points and Julian Phillips finished with 16. Chicago is 10th in the Eastern Conference at 28-38 and holds the final play-in spot.
Cam Thomas led Brooklyn with 24 points and a career-high 10 assists, and Nic Claxton added 18 points and 14 rebounds.
Chicago Bulls fans noticed a rather significant absence at the team’s games this week: its six championship banners. As it turns out, there was a reason for that, and it doesn’t make the story any more normal.
Per the Chicago Tribune, the banners were removed after sustaining “minor damage” during a concert featuring hard rock acts Disturbed, Three Days Grace and Sevendust, which reportedly used pyrotechnics directly underneath the banners.
The banners are now reportedly out for the season.
The Brooklyn Nets (22-44) were coming off a winnable game against the Cleveland Cavaliers without Donovan Mitchell, meaning that they were hungry for a win on this short road trip. With Thursday’s game at the Chicago Bulls (28-38) carrying more importance than a regular-season game due to the play-in tournament implications, but Brooklyn wasn’t able to get the result they wanted.
The Nets lost at the Bulls 116-110 and that came after Brooklyn looked to take control of the game in the third quarter after holding a 10-point lead heading into the fourth quarter.
A “boneheaded” fan at TPC Sawgrass, later identified as University of Texas golfer Luke Potter, got the boot and stumbled into controversy by heckling Rory McIlroy during a practice round ahead of The Players Championship.
The incident ended with McIlroy confiscating Potter’s phone, like an angry parent, said OutKick’s Mark Harris, who personally sided with Rory in the unusual exchange.
McIlroy didn’t address the heckler when asked about the moment by the media on Tuesday. Now, the heckler’s wishing he’d held his tongue.
The Tampa Bay Rays stadium situation is an unmitigated disaster.
After more than two decades at Tropicana Field, not too long ago, it looked like the Rays would finally be able to build a new, modern, desirable stadium in St. Petersburg. The team, the city and the county announced they’d come to an arrangement on a $1.3 billion project that would pay for a new stadium and development around it.
But the Rays on Thursday announced that they are officially pulling out of the deal, saying they’d be unable to fulfill their required obligations.
