Cody Rhodes’s career has been defined by betting on himself to do the improbable. At WrestleMania 39, he’s poised for his biggest cash-in yet.
Rhodes will attempt to win the undisputed WWE universal championship when he challenges Roman Reigns in the main event of Night 2 of WWE’s signature event at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif., this Sunday.
When he returned to WWE one year ago, Rhodes made it clear he was on a mission to fulfill his family’s destiny. He was back in WWE to do the one thing that his legendary father Dusty Rhodes was never able to do: become WWE world champion.

Veteran NFL running back Phillip Lindsay is signing with the Seattle Sea Dragons of the XFL, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
The 28-year-old two-time Pro Bowl running back has bounced around a bit since his back-to-back 1,000+ yard seasons in 2018 and ’19 with the Broncos.
Lindsay played for Houston and Miami in 2021 and with the Colts last season, but failed to make a significant impact in either stop. Lindsay has rushed for just 298 total yards and one touchdown over the last two years, and will now latch onto a role in the XFL to try to revive his professional prospects.

This week, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced its class of 2023, which includes Heat legend Dwyane Wade. The former shooting guard became the first player drafted by Miami to receive the honor, and the latest member to get in on the first ballot and to be voted in unanimously.
Wade posted a video on Twitter of Hall of Fame chairman Jerry Colangelo calling him to deliver the news, and Wade expressed how excited he was about the moment to both the viewers and to his family.
“That’s the call that I’ve watched people get for a long time,” he said.

On the court, French center Victor Wembanyama is being billed as one of the best NBA draft prospects of his generation, renowned for his unprecedented versatility at the height of 7’5”.
As it turns out, that versatility extends to social media, too.
Wembanyama delivered a perfectly deadpan April Fools’ Day joke on Twitter Saturday morning, doubtlessly horrifying fans of the many teams gunning for his draft rights in the process.

While Dawn Staley was not thrilled about South Carolina’s Final Four loss to Iowa on Friday, the legendary coach was also not happy about the ongoing negative labels attached to her basketball program.
Prior to Friday’s game, Iowa head coach Lisa Bluder referenced someone who described going up against the Gamecocks for rebounds was like “going to a bar fight.” Staley did not take kindly to those remarks. After Friday’s defeat, she addressed the stereotypes regarding her team’s physicality and style of play, something that has been a topic of discussion the entire season.

New York Mets fans may want to run those numbers again!
According to multiple Mets ticketholders, the team has skimped them on the amount of games that are supposed to be included in some of their ticket packages.
For example, the Mets “20-game” ticket package doesn’t actually include… 20 games.
Fans alerted the New York Post about the confusing situation. The outlet reached out to the team and asked why some fans received 17 or even 16 games instead of the allotted 20.
Their reasoning?
The “20-game” package is essentially just a name.
Oh.

Opening day for the Los Angeles Angels and Anthony Rendon didn’t go quite as expected.
The Angels lost to the Oakland A’s 2-1 and Rendon went 0-3 with a walk and two strikeouts. Things went much worse from there.
After the game, Rendon went over to an A’s fan who’d apparently been heckling the star third baseman. Rendon grabbed him by the shirt, accused the fan of calling him a “b****,” and then took a swing at the fan, which missed.
