After months of speculation, the Kansas City Chiefs and their defensive star appear to have a deal.
The Chiefs are signing defensive tackle Chris Jones to a five-year contract worth $95 million guaranteed, according to a Saturday night report from Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Jones, 29, won his third Super Bowl with Kansas City this past season.
Per Schefter, the deal stands to make Jones the highest paid defensive tackle in NFL history on a per-year basis.
In a Chiefs season rife with intriguing storylines, Jones’s status had flown under the radar a bit outside of Kansas City circles.
Jones has three Super Bowl rings as a standout defensive lineman.
North Carolina’s 25-year-old sixth-year senior Cormac Ryan poured in a career-high 31 points on 8-for-12 shooting from the floor as the No. 7 Tar Heels completed their season sweep of No. 9 Duke, 84–79 at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

The most obvious and easiest stand is to put both Missouri Valley Conference tourney finalists in the Big Dance.
The Indiana State Sycamores and Drake Bulldogs both deserve to be in the field of 68 no matter what happens when they meet in the Arch Madness final Sunday. They’re good enough. They have been all season.

LSU’s game against Ole Miss on Saturday evening should have been a coronation—a 75–67 win that saw the No. 8 Tigers advance to meet No. 1 South Carolina in the SEC championship.
Instead, LSU was left in shock after a devastating apparent injury.
Tigers guard Last-Tear Poa was stretchered off the Bon Secours Wellness Arena floor after a hard fall in fourth quarter.
After trying and failing to exit the court under her own power, she was stabilized and stretchered off the floor. Shaken, LSU’s players gathered in prayer before finishing off the Rebels.
The Duke big man made a questionable move in the first half.
