The Nebraska Cornhuskers have a new logo. While the university didn’t get rid of its iconic ‘N,’ it has introduced a new “modernized version” of the Herbie Husker alternate logo. The change wasn’t exactly by choice though, the Cornhuskers felt the need to change the logo because folks at the Anti-Defamation League believe that the old one is linked to white supremacy.
The school explained that there was a priority on “embracing the Cornhusker tradition and the agricultural background of the state of Nebraska” when it came to modernizing the logo.

Two of college football’s mid-major conferences will be joining forces ahead of the 2023 season.
The Atlantic Sun Conference and the Western Athletic Conference are officially merging for football and will be known as the United Athletic Conference going forward, the new alliance announced Monday.
The merger of the ASUN and WAC comes after the two conferences were partnered for the last two NCAA football seasons, a result of the low number of teams in each division. The possible merger was initially reported in December.
Alabama quarterback Bryce Young has canceled his remaining pre-draft visits with NFL teams, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. The news adds speculation that Young is already certain he will be drafted by the Panthers with the No. 1 pick in this month’s NFL draft.
The 2021 Heisman winner has already met with both the Panthers and the Texans, who have the No. 2 pick in the draft.
Young has been the favorite to be the top pick in the draft for some time, and it appears to be an inevitability at this point.
As Texas A&M played its spring game over the weekend, Aggies fans could not get Texas off of their minds. They are obsessed with the Longhorns.
This fall will mark Jimbo Fisher’s sixth season as the head football coach of Texas A&M University. In each of his first five years, despite beginning the year ranked within the AP Poll top-20, the Aggies have been overwhelmingly disappointing— outside of an 8-1 record during the COVID-shortened 2020 season.
Texas A&M cannot eclipse the nine-win mark. The eight-win Aggies jokes are endless.

Let’s overreact to the start of every series in the 2023 NBA Playoffs.
NBA Playoffs series are not strictly determined by the first game, but teams that win Game 1 historically have a huge edge in advancing. In 2018, the NBA put out data that said teams that win the first game of a best-of-seven series win the series 76.6 percent of the time. In the first round, teams that win Game 1 win the series 79.7 percent of the time, according to Land of Basketball.
One participant in this year’s Boston Marathon towered above the rest. Longtime Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chára (who stands 6’9″) is one of several former sports stars participating in the 127th edition of the nation’s most famous road race.
Chára, 46, retired after last season following a 24-year NHL career. He’s running in support of two charities, one that benefits people with cerebral palsy and one that benefits people with paralysis. (About 20% of Boston Marathon participants earn their spot in the field by raising money for charity.)
Chara. Boston Marathon. Legend.
I don’t particularly care if you think Jalen Hurts is the Eagles’ quarterback of the future, a system product, an ascending star, a future mayor à la Ed Rendell or worth every penny of the five-year, $255 million extension he signed Monday. Those are all opinions based on conditional factors that are currently out of Hurts’s control, and the control of the organization he is now tied to long term.
There is a world in which Hurts will lift three Lombardi Trophies in his lifetime. There is also a world in which he’ll be excised from the organization’s plans, just like Carson Wentz.
There is an agreement in place for the Commanders to be sold for $6.05 billion, according to sources. But the new owners will have a lot of work to do.
Jalen Hurts and the Eagles reportedly have agreed to terms on a 5-year, $255M contract extension on Monday.
Philadelphia got their man.
Hurts certainly earned his payday after leading his team to an NFC championship and a Super Bowl LVII appearance — one in which he arguably should have won the MVP despite his team’s loss. Hurts’s 70 rushing yards and three scores were both Super Bowl records for a quarterback. Not only that, but 45 of those yards came after contact, and 10 of his 15 carries went for a first down or touchdown.
