Jon Wertheim answers questions about Jelena Ostapenko’s polarizing nature, Carlos Alcaraz’s Wimbledon chances and more.
Hey, everyone. We’re midway through Miami. Seems like a good time for a grab bag mailbag.
• Check back later this week for an update piece about the WTA, China, Saudi Arabia and, not least, Peng Shuai.
• Here’s my 60 Minutes interview with Charles Barkley.
Onward….

Jon,
Is it excessive for Miami to give byes to all 32 seeds? Top 8 or 16, O.K.

The Golden State Warriors took on the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday night. Draymond Green was in the lineup for the Warriors, and as we all know now, anytime he’s on the floor he’s bound to do something stupid.
Well, he delivered in New Orleans.
With just under four minutes left in the first half, Green fouled Brandon Ingram on his way to the basket. After the whistle, Green walked in Ingram’s path and the two exchanged shoves. Both were handed technical fouls and, of course, Green reacted to the tech like a toddler being told there is no dessert.

The Packers quarterback said it was ‘debatable’ whether he was the greatest in Green Bay’s history. So SI talked to the team historian and a former team GM to figure out Rodgers’s place on the list.
The Packers’ history is arguably the richest and certainly the longest-lasting, considering the Green Bay franchise predates the NFL’s inaugural season of 1920.
This truth made Aaron Rodgers’s statement on March 15 on The Pat McAfee Show all the more surprising, when he asserted his opinion of perhaps being the greatest player to ever wear a Packers uniform.

Anthony Richardson’s strengths and weaknesses mean you can see greatness or draft bust, depending on how you look.
Every year, we traditionally get one or two polarizing NFL Draft prospects. One half of evaluators think that player is the greatest thing since sliced bread, whilst the other half see nothing but a “do not draft” sign.
This year, that prospect is University of Florida quarterback Antony Richardson, who is arguably the most athletic and enticing quarterback prospect in NFL history.

More fans watched Iowa beat Louisville in the women’s NCAA Tournament than any NBA game on ESPN this season.
Caitlin Clark and the Hawkeyes hammered the Cardinals 97-83 Sunday, and the game drew 2.499 million viewers on ESPN.
That’s more than any NBA game has drawn on the network all season, according to The Athletic.

Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy looks like he’s ready to grill some brats and burgers while complaining about his 401k.
The head coach of the Cowboys has rocked a mullet for large chunks of time over the past few seasons. Now, he’s also got a beard to match his (relatively short) flow.
Yes, Mike Gundy looks like a dad who lost his razor the moment the family vacation started.

#okstate coach Mike Gundy spoke to the possibility of OSU adding to its football recruiting staff.
Gundy said he’d like to get closer to the SEC standard.

J.R. Smith thinks Ja Morant just needs someone he can talk to.
The Memphis Grizzlies star recently returned to the team following a suspension stemming from flashing a gun in a Colorado strip club.
After a very brief stint in counseling, Morant is back on the court for the Grizzlies, and so far, has managed to stay out of the news for negative reasons.

The former Lakers and Cavaliers shooting guard thinks Ja Morant just needs to find someone he can talk to who doesn’t want anything from him.

Damian Lillard doesn’t like the shift he’s seen in the NBA over the past few years.
The Portland Trailblazers guard has turned into a dominant player over the past decade. While he’s become a great player, he definitely isn’t impressed by the changes he’s seen over the years.
Specifically, he believes NBA players are entitled and out for themselves.

“The word I was looking for is entitlement. Like, when I came in the league, you had to earn not just what you get from the team or the respect.
