Chargers star running back Austin Ekeler is opening up about why he requested permission to seek a trade from the team after six seasons there.
One of the main factors is his paycheck, Ekeler admitted.
“I feel like there’s no timeline on [being traded],” Ekeler said on the Green Light with Chris Long podcast. “I’m so underpaid right now as far as my contract and what I contribute to the team, it’s like, I am relentlessly pursuing this. I want to get something long-term done. I want a team that wants me long term.

We’re pulling up to NFL Draft season, folks. We’ve five weeks away from the Carolina Panthers being on the clock after acquiring the No. 1 overall pick from the Bears, and dozens of questions remain.
Obviously the Panthers are taking a quarterback with the first overall pick, but there’s still debate over who that will be. Then we have the rest of the Top 10 and slotting in the remaining quarterbacks, any of whom could conceivably be taken at No.
After taking a backseat to Rhamondre Stevenson in New England, Harris will be the lead back in Buffalo.
The Buffalo Bills have signed Damien Harris to a one-year contract. He’ll replace Devin Singletary, who inked a one-year deal of his own with the Houston Texans. The move is a positive one for Harris, who will be the team’s projected starter.
Harris is coming off a disappointing fantasy season that saw him miss six games due to injuries and finish with just 90.9 points. That’s 119 fewer points than he had scored in his breakout 2021 campaign, when he rushed for 15 touchdowns.
