We’re back on the boxing beat this weekend, doing our best not to skip ahead to what’s waiting just around the corner.
And it’s a struggle for good reason.
It’s not often that a doubleheader of delicious domestic duels land on the boxing calendar, with Naoya Inoue vs. Junto Nakatani and Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez vs. David Benavidez arriving like two London buses at the beginning of May.
That being said — there’s still enough to whet the appetite as we wave goodbye to April, including the return of a heavyweight made infamous for literally failing to keep his wig on.

Houston, Nelly Korda is the problem.
The Chevron Championship has officially turned into the Nelly Korda show through its first two rounds. The 2024 champion of the event is 14-under through the first two rounds after posting back to back 7-under days.
Michael Dunlop secured a dominant win in Friday evening’s red-flagged Open A Invitation race at the Cookstown 100 road races.
The 37-year-old Ballymoney rider had built up an advantage of 9.4 seconds over runner-up Michael Sweeney when the race was halted on lap seven of nine and a result later declared.
Riding his MD Racing BMW Superstock machine, Dunlop recorded a best lap speed of 91.322mph, marginally outside the lap record of 91.773 for the 2.1-mile Orritor circuit which he set last year.

The issue of court speed has been simmering for some time now, with complaints growing over how surfaces are being altered at ATP Tour events.
