Just a few seconds into the game, Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards checked out due to an apparent injury. He quickly shook it off and returned to the court, and fans will be thankful he did.
Edwards dropped 44 points in the Timberwolves’s 113–111 win over the Indiana Pacers, and despite his prolific offensive numbers, it was on the defensive end late in the game where he made his biggest impact.

Caitlin Clark is the all-time leading scorer in NCAA Division I basketball. She’s the biggest star in women’s college basketball. She’s one of the biggest stars in all of sports today.
Clark is also a white woman commanding a primarily black league. That fact troubles some members of the basketball community.
Earlier this month, former WNBA player Sheryl Swoopes tried to undermine Clark’s legacy with a series of false statements. Swoopes said Clark has played for five years, is 25 years old, and shoots 40 times per game.
The Timberwolves lost Karl-Anthony Towns on Thursday. They still have Anthony Edwards, who finished off a 44-point performance with a game-winning block.
The Miami Marlins have perennially struggled to attract fans to home games, even when the team is competing for a playoff spot.
Even though the team was in contention for the playoffs, eventually clinching one of the wild card spots with an 84-78 record, their attendance was yet again, disappointing. The Marlins and loanDepot Park averaged just 14,356 fans per game in 2023, outpacing just the lowly lame duck Oakland A’s.
And with the 2024 regular season just a few weeks away, the organization is looking for ways to get that number up quickly.
The reigning NBA champion Denver Nuggets will no longer visit the White House to celebrate their title because of their hopes to take over the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference.
The Nuggets’ originally scheduled visit to the White House in late January was postponed to March 18 by the Biden administration due to a scheduling conflict, reporter Chris Haynes explained Thursday on the TNT broadcast.
But, now, the Nuggets are too focused on reaching the top spot and don’t want to be distracted.
Longtime Saints wideout Michael Thomas lashed out at a New Orleans journalist, on X, after the latter’s reporting stated that the Saints are set to release Thomas for salary cap purposes.
Thomas went on an online rant against The Times-Picayune columnist Jeff Duncan and then defended his own sanity after going off on Duncan for petty reasons.
Duncan reported that the Saints would release Thomas ahead of the new league year; Thomas answered back saying he was on a one-year deal.
Drue Tranquill is staying in Kansas City.
The 28-year-old linebacker agreed to sign a three-year contract with the Kansas City Chiefs worth $19 million ($13 million guaranteed), per multiple reports.
Tranquill all but confirmed the reports Thursday night when he posted a picture of himself and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce celebrating Kansas City’s win over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII.
“Unfinished business,” Tranquill wrote.

Charles Barkley has not backed down on his take that the Boston Celtics will win the 2024 NBA Finals, and he took things a step further on Thursday ahead of the team’s tilt against the reigning champion Denver Nuggets.
Not only did Barkley double down on his belief that the Celtics will win their first championship since 2008, but also he said that a failure to do so would be a significant failure on the organization’s behalf.
“If [the Celtics] don’t win a championship this year, it would be a total gag job,” Barkley said. “They’ve got everything.
A new report suggests the Patriots are not interested in drafting UNC QB Drake Maye with the No. 3 overall pick and could trade down if LSU QB Jayden Daniels is not available.
The life of a bubble team just before March Madness is tough. Every game, heck every minute, could determine whether a team gets an invitation to the Big Dance or a consolation call from the NIT. Oklahoma Sooners head coach Porter Moser joined Dan Dakich on Thursday and talked about the difficulties of preparing a team in that spot.
“These guys [are] doing bracketology in September, it seems like,” Moser said. “So, [our players] aren’t living in a bubble. They’re on social media. Every outlet is talking about everything.
