Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder James Outman is 26 years old.
That’s an important fact to keep in mind for the purposes of this article. He is nowhere near the youngest player on the Dodgers; that distinction currently belongs to catcher Diego Cartaya, a 22-year-old who spent 2023 with Double-A Tulsa.
On Thursday afternoon, Outman’s age became a discussion point during Los Angeles’s spring training opener against the San Diego Padres.
Asked to name a Dodger he grew up watching, Outman opted for outfielder Joc Pederson—a Los Angeles mainstay from 2014-20 and an All-Star in 2015.

Russell Wilson is expected to be one of the highest profile free agents of the NFL offseason, as the Denver Broncos have already publicized their intent to release the quarterback. While Wilson is not the player he once was, he still may get a chance to start with the right team.
There are many teams that could be looking to add a quarterback, but former wide receiver Chad Johnson said he’s hearing one team in particular could go after Wilson.
Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry had a strong feeling his team would win the 2022 NBA Finals even after the Warriors dropped Game 3 to go down 2–1 to the Boston Celtics.
During that game, the then Celtics forward Juwan Morgan heard Curry say a “mic drop” four-word phrase that even kept him up at night after.
“He’s like ‘Enjoy y’all last win,’” Morgan said on Tidal League. “I was just like, ‘Us? It’s 2–1, what you mean?’ I’m standing here like, what size am I? I need my ring size. … This kept me up at night. Like, nah he ain’t say that.
Coming out of the NBA All-Star break, Yahoo Sports NBA writer Dan Devine and Patrick Redford from Defector talk about the storylines they’re most interested to watch play out.
Baseball is back.
With the NFL season concluded and the NBA just finishing up its All-Star break, MLB fans were ready for some action when the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres officially opened the spring training season on Thursday afternoon.
Those fans got the action they wanted quickly—possibly too quickly—as the Dodgers ran up the score in the first inning, pushing the game into blowout territory in mere minutes.
The Padres opened the top of the first inning with one of the top pitchers in their rotation, Joe Musgrove, on the mound.
Detroit Pistons forward Isaiah Stewart hit NBA headlines on Valentine’s Day after punching Phoenix Suns player Drew Eubanks before their game at Footprint Center.
The NBA responded by suspending Stewart for three games, according to a league announcement on Thursday. A misdemeanor assault charge issued against Stewart has also been dismissed, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The player was arrested and issued a citation. Stewart will miss the three games without pay.
Drew Eubanks suited up for the V-Day game despite the punch. Stewart was deemed ‘inactive.
There have been nine iterations of The Match since Tiger vs. Phil in 2018, and since then the exhibition-style event has been tweaked and supplemented in a number of ways.
Superstar NFL quarterbacks have been thrown into the mix and the Charles Barkley’s voice has become central to the franchise’s entertainment factor. The format has ranged from straight-up match play to 12-hole team best ball. In its seventh installment, The Match even secured a primetime TV slot with the help of on-course stadium lights.
The Detroit Pistons will be operating without forward Isaiah Stewart for the near future.
The NBA announced Thursday that Stewart was suspended three games for initiating an altercation with Phoenix Suns center Drew Eubanks before the Suns’ 116–100 win over Detroit on Feb. 14.
Stewart, 22, was found to have “punched and pushed Eubanks during the altercation,” per the league. The incident resulted in Stewart’s arrest and citation for assault by the Phoenix Police Department.
There are certain activities where random strangers feel more than comfortable offering unsolicited advice. I’ve noticed that this happens a lot on golf courses or at the driving range.
How do I know this? Because I’ve got a terrible swing that looks like the bastard child of a snapshot and back spasm, so I’ve had my fair share of wannabe Jack Nicklauses (Nickli?) try to work out the kinks in my game.
Which is fair, I’m just a very funny and handsome writer, not a professional golf coach like our new friend Georgia Ball is.
The New York Yankees’ 2023 season was a “failure on every level,” said owner Hal Steinbrenner in Tampa on Thursday, and the organization has to wear that. Literally: “Look at me!” he said. “Look at the bags under my eyes. There’s pressure on all of us, man. We’re feeling it, and that’s a good thing. We deserve to feel it. And that’s gonna make us stronger this year.
