Ole Miss baseball can mash. The Rebels are defending their national title in 2023 with a roster that looks very different from a year ago, but cannot be stopped when everything is clicking.
Mike Bianco’s team is 15-6 thus far into the year, with a series win over Maryland and a win over Southern Miss, but hit a slump last week with a loss to Jacksonville State and series sweep on the road at Vanderbilt. It was a rough four-game stretch that saw Ole Miss get out-scored 10-37.
The Rebels bounced back in a big way Tuesday. A bad Arkansas Pine Bluff team rolled into Oxford and got rocked.

Virginia running back Mike Hollins believes he’s very lucky to be playing football again.
Hollins was shot and wounded during a rampage on UVA’s campus allegedly carried out by Christopher Darnell Jones Jr. in November. Fellow UVA football players D’Sean Perry, Lavel Davis Jr. and Devin Chandler were all killed.
Now, Hollins, who heroically tried to intervene to save his teammates, is just happy to be back on the field for team drills.

For the first time since Nov. 28, the Timberwolves star is poised to take the court.
The Timberwolves are poised to get a major boost for the final playoff push on Wednesday: Karl-Anthony Towns is back.
After missing 51 consecutive games with a Grade 3 calf strain, Towns is set to return to the court for Minnesota’s game on Wednesday against the Hawks, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania. Barring any setbacks in pregame warmups, the three-time All-Star will make his first appearance since Nov. 28.

The NBA apparently took notice of Fred VanVleet’s criticism of referee Ben Taylor.
Ben Taylor is young for an NBA referee at 37 years old. He already has 10 seasons of experience as an official in the league, and was on the floor for LeBron James’ 61-point game against the Charlotte Bobcats back in 2014. Few fans knew Taylor’s name coming into this year, and that’s a good thing: refs want to fly under the radar and do their job fairly and accurately. If people are taking notice of a specific ref, that probably means they messed up.

He is considered one of the top recruits in the country at just 15 years old.
Cameron Boozer, the son of former NBA All-Star Carlos Boozer, was named Gatorade‘s National Boys Basketball Player of the Year on Wednesday. The award is one of the most prestigious high school basketball awards in the country and is given to a player who demonstrates excellence on the court and in the classroom.
Past winners of the award include Jayson Tatum, Karl-Anthony Towns, Kevin Love, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James.

Virginia Tech fans got the ultimate approval for their makeshift “Enter Sandman” singalong… from Metallica themselves!
Even though Sunday’s NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament game was held at Virginia Tech’s home court, it technically was a “neutral site” game. That meant the Hokies couldn’t use their typical pregame music or anything that would be deemed as an advantage.
However, that didn’t stop the VT loyalists from taking matters into their own hands… and voices.
The coolest part? Metallica tweeted out and approved of their metal moment.

His game-ending strikeout was more impressive than was immediately evident.
Tuesday’s World Baseball Classic championship game ended just the way every baseball fan hoped it would—with Mike Trout facing his Angels teammate Shohei Ohtani.
After Ohtani walked leadoff hitter Jeff McNeil and got Mookie Betts to ground into a double play, Trout came to the plate with two outs in the ninth inning and the United States trailing Japan, 3–2. What Ohtani did next will be talked about for years.
His first pitch, a slider, missed low.

The Owls have been one of the best teams in the country all year. Now everyone is getting to see it in March Madness.
Cinderella (adjective): a surprise team that exceeds expectations of those that were set. An underestimated team that wins the hearts of college basketball fans everywhere.
As Alijah Martin went airborne to attempt a windmill 360 dunk at the end of Florida Atlantic’s 78-70 victory over Farleigh Dickinson, the adoration of the plucky Owls from Conference USA turned quickly into vitriol.

The highly-rated ballcarrier will forgo the opportunity to remain in the Buckeye State and instead opt to play for ‘That Team Up North.’
Michigan has gotten the best of Ohio State on the gridiron in the last two years and now the Wolverines have secured a win on the recruiting trail in the Buckeye State.
Jordan Marshall, a four-star running back recruit from Cincinnati, committed to Michigan over Ohio State on Tuesday evening.
