It can be difficult to remember at times, given their fame and fortune, that NFL players at their heart are ordinary employees with concerns you’d expect of any working American.
If there’s one day a year that bears out that fact, it’s the release of the NFL Players Association’s annual team-by-team report cards. The survey allows the players to grade their employers on everyday elements such as the treatment of their families—an area in which four teams in particular were found lacking this season.

Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Dončić turns 25 on Wednesday, and the MVP candidate will look to pick up a bounce-back win after the team’s stunning loss at the buzzer against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday evening.
Dončić is in his sixth NBA season, and he’s gotten off to a historic start to his career in Dallas. An offensive juggernaut, Dončić has recorded the third most points by a player before their 25th birthday in league history (10,825), trailing only LeBron James (13,927) and Kevin Durant (12,258).

I am part of the problem.
After the NBA trade deadline, I ranked NBA Finals contenders, and I put the Cleveland Cavaliers 10th. Tenth! Behind teams such as the Milwaukee Bucks and New York Knicks, despite Cleveland being ahead of both in the East standings.
I’m not the only one who feels this way. ESPN gives the Knicks and Bucks better title odds. FanDuel’s sportsbook does as well. With the Boston Celtics a heavy favorite regardless of conference, it seems the general consensus on the Cavs is they have the fourth-best chance to win the East even though they’re in second place.

The Johnny Manziel media tour rolled on this week, although I’m still not sure why we’re getting so much Johnny Football news in 2024.
I’m not hating on it, because I love me some Johnny Manziel – but it just seems odd that he’s resurfaced with such vigor this year. Didn’t see it coming.
Anyway, the former Texas A&M Aggie joined Shannon Sharpe on his Club Shay podcast and “unequivocally” named the college coach he’d want his theoretical son to play for in 2024.

Xaviar Babudar—an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan known by the alias “ChiefsAholic”—pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of bank robbery, one count of money laundering, and one count of transporting stolen property across state lines in federal court.
Babudar, 29, had previously been indicted on 19 charges by a federal grand jury in August. Per the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Missouri, the charges relate to “a string of 11 robberies, or attempted robberies, of financial institutions in seven states.

Oh my goodness, the NCAA might actually be looking out for the betterment of college athletics after all. Could the organization that has been lambasted over the past few years be on the verge of making significant changes that could help the product?
The NCAA has been in so many headlines over the last number of years that it would seem the organization was preparing for a fire sale. There have been sporadic periods of good news from the folks in Indianapolis, including the recent ruling on decorating hotel rooms for recruits, but we’ll get to that in a bit.

Rory McIlroy was handed the freest of free shots at Talor Gooch when the LIV golfer said that if he were to win the Masters this April – which would earn him the career Grand Slam – the victory would have an asterisk next to it given the absence of certain LIV players in the tournament field. Instead, McIlroy took the high road and gave Gooch the benefit of the doubt.

So you’re saying there’s a chance?
Rory McIlroy was smiling Wednesday when he answered a question about going to LIV Golf in the future, but his answer was nonetheless interesting, even if he was joking.
The four-time major champion who had been an outspoken critic about LIV Golf before softening his stance this year in the wake of the current climate in the game was asked about comments his former agent, Chubby Chandler, had recently made suggesting he might head to LIV Golf.
