Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid offered a loose timeline for when he might return to the court after suffering a knee injury last month.
On Thursday, Embiid told reporters that the plan was to come back at some point before the end of the regular season.
“Obviously everything has to go right, as far as getting healthy and being as close as I’m supposed to be,” Embiid said. “But yeah, that’s the plan.”
The reigning NBA MVP then answered why he would run the risk of aggravating his injury this season.

The 2024 Formula 1 season is underway with Bahrain Grand Prix happening on Saturday. So, drivers are doing some of their first big interviews of the year, and, of course, one of the big topics was Lewis Hamilton’s stunning off-season announcement that he’ll be wearing Ferrari red in 2025.
Now, the seven-time champion is opening up a bit more about the decision-making process, which it turns out was very secretive.

As male transgender athletes continue to encroach further into women’s sports, it’s becoming even more important that female competitors refuse to take part.
And that’s exactly what’s happening in a European pool tournament, with support from OutKick’s Riley Gaines.
Kim O’Brien, a female athlete, recently forfeited her spot in the women’s championship final rather than compete against a male billiards player, Harriet Haynes.

INDIANAPOLIS – If NFL teams want to know whether Iowa’s Cooper DeJean can play cornerback, perhaps they should look at his over-the-shoulder catch and 45-yard return of an interception for a touchdown against Rutgers in 2022. Or maybe study his work against Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr. in a handful of man-to-man matchups that same season.
DeJean, the Iowa defensive back, is at this scouting combine hoping to convince the 20 NFL teams that so far have met with him here that he is worthy of being selected in the April draft.

Pittsburgh Pirates pitching prospect Paul Skenes looked every bit the part of a No. 1 draft pick on Thursday, painting 102 miles per hour on the gun in a spring training outing against the Baltimore Orioles.
Skenes, who was selected as the top pick in the 2023 first-year player draft, faced two former No. 1 picks on Thursday in Orioles shortstop Jackson Holliday and catcher Adley Rutschman in a scoreless first inning.
Skenes forced Holliday to groundout to shortstop, and forced a deep fly out to right field against Rutschman. In both at-bats, Skenes hit 102 on the scoreboard radar gun.

After 30 seasons working as the Pittsburgh Steelers’ radio announcer, Bill Hillgrove announced on Thursday that he will be stepping down from the position.
“It was not an easy decision,” Hillgrove said, via the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “The more it was discussed, especially with the family, it became easier. When it’s time, it’s time.”
This is not a full retirement from radio, though, as the 83-year-old still intends on calling at least one more season of Pitt football and basketball, a job he’s been doing for almost 51 years.

When the Kansas City Chiefs hit a snag during the regular season in 2023—and particularly in December, when they lost three of their five games—it became trendy in some circles to label musician Taylor Swift a distraction.
After all, Swift’s relationship with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce had elevated Kansas City to a new level of global celebrity. Perhaps the Chiefs were unable to handle the increased spotlight cast upon them by arguably the most famous living American. Perhaps Swift was to blame.
