Despite playing on one foot, the Chiefs’ “ultimate competitor” amazed us again—this time with his toughness—to lead Kansas City to its fifth straight AFC championship game.
Patrick Mahomes had the kind of injury to his left ankle that would leave most of us looking for crutches and a bottle of pills. Mahomes did not even want an X-ray. He said afterward that “it’s all in God’s hands,” and because he was in pain, I will forgive him for referring to himself in the third person.
Mahomes left and came back, but the Chiefs are still here.
Rem Pitlick completed the Montreal Canadiens’ comeback with a goal in overtime to beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-2 at the Bell Centre on Saturday.
Giants linebacker Jarrad Davis was called for unnecessary roughness against the Eagles on Saturday night. The call was pretty negligible in the grand scheme of things, but it was questionable nonetheless.
Philadelphia had the ball on 2nd-and-8 at the New York 10(ish)-yard-line, late in the second quarter. It held a 21-0 lead and a touchdown would have made it a four-possession game.
That is ultimately what ended up playing out. The Eagles went up 28-0 at halftime with help from what was called a late hit.
Well, Joey Bosa got slapped with a massive fine. But let’s not pretend we didn’t see this coming.
The NFL fined the Los Angeles Chargers linebacker $55,456 for unsportsmanlike conduct and his harsh criticism of the officials after last week’s 31-30 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Chargers were up 27-0 on the Jags but blew the lead, and their loss eliminated them from the playoffs. The Jaguars comeback was largely aided by Bosa’s unsportsmanlike conduct penalty late in the game.

At least the Giants saved themselves from suffering the first shutout loss in the NFL playoffs since 2016.
Playoff games during Wild Card weekend were exciting and engaging. The first game of the Divisional Round created some drama as Patrick Mahomes’ injury kept him out for part of the first half and limited him enough to keep the game close.
Saturday night’s NFC East matchup has failed to live up to the excitement of other postseason games so far this year.

NC State guard Terquavion Smith was stretchered off the court after a terrifying fall driving to the basket during the Wolfpack’s 80–69 loss to North Carolina on Saturday.
While driving to the rack, UNC’s Leaky Black committed the hard foul on Smith. While falling to the court, Smith attempted to support himself with his right arm.
Immediately after he hit the hardwood inside the Smith Center, Smith received medical attention.

And you thought “Boston vs. New York” was a baseball rivalry
If Boston Scott solely played his game against the New York Giants, he would be the greatest running back of all time. The Eagles’ 5’6 complementary back scored a touchdown against New York in Saturday’s Divisional Round playoff game, and normally one carry for 3 yards would not make the news.
But that single play becomes much more notable when you consider that no player has ever scored on a higher percentage of his plays than Boston Scott against the New York Giants.

Eli Manning and the Eagles have history. The future Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback spent his entire 16-year with the New York, one of Philadelphia’s NFC East rivals.
Although Eli went 10-21 against “the Birds,” he won two Super Bowls over the course of his career while Philly won just one over that same period of time. And the rivalry runs deep to this day.
Earlier this week, on Omaha Productions’ Monday Night Football ‘ManningCast,’ Eli spoke about a promise he made to himself. He vowed to never go back to the City of Brotherly Love after retiring.
