The amazing thing about NFL free agency 2023, which effectively begins at noon on Monday, is that the two most intriguing players out there are not free agents: Aaron Rodgers and Lamar Jackson.
And both those star quarterbacks cast an enormous shadow over all of free agency now.
Rodgers has yet to announce his intentions about the coming season and whether he wishes to play or not. That is expected by Wednesday and likely before.
Aaron Rodgers played in the Pebble Beach Pro Am while deciding whether to play football this season.

The coach was arrested in December and subsequently fired by the Longhorns in January.

Former Texas men’s basketball coach Chris Beard is reportedly close to becoming Ole Miss’s new head coach, ESPN’s Pete Thamel and Jeff Borzello reported Monday.

Well, I reckon Hendrick Motorsports went ahead and gave William Byron the Chase Elliott package while NASCAR’s Most Popular Driver is on the shelf?
I don’t know. How else do you explain Billy the Kid all of a sudden running laps around the field like he’s Lightning Freaking McQueen?
Fine. I guess Byron finally growing up and being the star driver he was billed to be coming up the ranks is one possible explanation.

The reported move saves the team a large sum under the salary cap ahead of free agency.
The Browns have restructured Deshaun Watson’s contract, and the move will free up nearly $36 million in cap space ahead of free agency, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The legal tampering period for impending free agents starts Monday at noon ET, and teams can officially sign players when the new league year starts Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET.
Cleveland signed the quarterback to a massive, fully guaranteed contract last year. The pact covers five years and is worth $230 million.

It turns out the PAC-12 might actually see some light at the end of the tunnel.
George Kliavkoff and the conference have so far very publicly failed to land a media deal, and it’s put the future of the conference up in the air.
If a new deal can’t be reached, there’s a very real chance the PAC-12 could collapse. Now, it appears some kind of deal might be reached.
Forbes reported “a deal is expected before the end of March,” and streaming giants Apple and Amazon are expected to be in the mix.

Former Texas coach Chris Beard is set to be officially hired by Ole Miss in the next 24 hours to lead the basketball program. The news might shock some in the college basketball world, after Beard was fired by Texas in January. But in the end, the Rebels have hired a coach they think can take them back to the NCAA Tournament, quickly.
Jeff Goodman was first to report the news.
Turns out Chris Beard will be joining the SEC, just not with Texas, as originally planned.
