Oakland A’s catcher Shea Langeliers tore the cover off a baseball yesterday, in the most literal sense possible.
When you hear that phrase, you might think that he sent a fastball 450 feet into the stands. But that’s not what happened, since the A’s didn’t get on the board in a 7-0 loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday.
During one of his at-bats, he barely made contact with a pitch and fouled it off. After his swing, cameras noticed that Langeliers actually ripped open the cover of the ball.

Keon Coleman isn’t just a First-Team All-ACC wide receiver. He’s also a smart bargain shopper.
The Florida State product was drafted in the second round (33rd overall) by the Buffalo Bills on Friday. And in his introductory press conference with the team, he gave reporters some solid advice about how to get the best deals on clothing.
Decked out in a big yellow puffer coat, Coleman was asked if he snagged the jacket in Buffalo.
“Nah, man you forget I went to school in Michigan for two years?” Coleman asked.
Overall it was a middling year for the NFC, which is home to the worst grade of the entire NFL Draft. But Chicago and Philly’s selections offered some bright spots.
QB Drake Maye brings ridiculous upside to New England, while Denver owes an apology to its fans. Plus Kansas City has reason to smile — again.
