Canadiens forward and world-class pest (I mean that as a compliment) Brendan Gallagher has been dealt a 5-game suspension for a nasty elbow to the head of New York Islanders’ Adam Pelech.
When you see what he did, you might think he was lucky to be out for only five games.
The Islanders — now coached by former Hab Patrick Roy — visited Montreal on Thursday night. Before the game, there was an emotional scene as the Canadiens honored Roy, who was the last goalie to backstop the club to a Stanley Cup, doing so in Patrick Roy.

If there was a 10-run rule on an MLB offseason, it would’ve been enforced on the Los Angeles Dodgers this winter.
The Dodgers signed Japanese stars Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto and traded for right-handed pitcher Tyler Glasnow while the other 29 MLB teams appeared to just watch from the dugout.
So, what is Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts’s message to those 29 other fan bases?
“I don’t know what you want us to do,” Betts said Friday on AM 570 L.A. Sports.

Michigan didn’t take long to find a replacement for Jim Harbaiugh. The Wolverines announced Sherrone Moore will serve as the next head coach of the Maize N’ Blue.
After a tumultuous year that ended in a (untainted) national title, Harbaugh left Ann Arbor to take the helm of the Los Angeles Chargers on Wednesday. Despite the dream ending to his time in Michigan, the coach served two separate three-game suspensions for one recruiting and one sign-stealing violation.
For the latter of those absences, Moore served as head coach in Harbaugh’s stead.

New Michigan coach Sherrone Moore has been given the keys to the kingdom.
The longtime Wolverines assistant will inherit a program coming off its first national championship since 1997. Sure, it’s possible NCAA sanctions related to allegations of illegal in-person scouting or pandemic-era recruiting await, but Michigan is well-equipped for a new era of Big Ten football.
That would be the doing of coach Jim Harbaugh, who departed for the Los Angeles Chargers on Wednesday.

Pete Carroll parted ways with the Seattle Seahawks in the same 48-hour-or-so span that Nick Saban retired and the New England Patriots moved on from Bill Belichick.
However, there are some rumblings that Carroll may still have some coaching mileage left, and his buddy Snoop Dogg — because of course Snoop and Pete Carroll are pals — says he’d like to see the legendary coach return to his old stomping grounds at the University of Southern California.

Even accounting for the fact that the team made the playoffs in 2023, the Cleveland Browns‘ trade for quarterback Deshaun Watson in 2022 hasn’t gone smoothly.
Aside from the public relations nightmare associated with acquiring the quarterback, Watson also has been subpar on the field, throwing 14 touchdowns against nine interceptions in 12 games over two years.
