May you find something in your life that you appreciate as much as Jaromir Jagr loves hockey.
The NHL legend, who is now 51-years-old, laced up his skates last night for the season opener of his hometown Czech team the Kladno Knights. It was Jagr’s 36th season opener as the guy just won’t stop playing the game that he literally grew up loving and dominating.

This is the time of year that NFL teams push out their “Pro Bowl Vote” posts on social media. Every team is doing it. Generally, teams understand which players are deserving. However, Kansas City Chiefs fans roasted the team for trying to promote wide receiver Kadarius Toney.
Toney is having a terrible year by all measures. He has just 27 catches for 169 yards and one touchdown. Toney ranks in the Top 20 in the NFL with five drops and is third in the league with a 13.2% drop percentage.

The Steelers have named Mason Rudolph as the starting quarterback for Saturday’s Week 16 matchup against the Bengals, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Kenny Pickett has been ruled out.
Rudolph will make his first start of the season, taking over duties from Mitch Trubisky. The 2018 third-rounder previously filled in during garbage time of the Steelers’ 30—13 loss to the Colts last Saturday, completing 2-of-3 passes for three yards.

The NFL has added a new element to the Pro Bowl skills competition for this season’s event: a tug-of-war contest.
The league announced the full slate of 2024 skills competitions on Wednesday. Other new events include a closest-to-the-pin golf contest, an obstacle course relay race called “Gridiron Gauntlet” and an event called “High Stakes” where players have to catch balls launched high into the air from a JUGS machine.

1. It doesn’t really make a ton of sense that the in-season Hard Knocks never seems to get the same attention as the preseason Hard Knocks.
The reason is obvious. In the summer, we need a football fix, so Hard Knocks fills that void. During the season, we have NFL games four days a week, so Hard Knocks becomes a side thing.
But logically, a show that follows a team during the season is going to be much more compelling than a show that follows a team during exhibition games.

Game recognizes game.
The Clippers defeated the Mavericks Wednesday night, 120–111, despite the best efforts of Dallas superstar Luka Dončić. The sixth-year guard scored 28 points, fueling a comeback from a 22-point deficit that ultimately fell short.
Clippers scorer James Harden acknowledged Dončić’s greatness after the Mavericks star hit a tough fadeaway jumper to beat the shot clock. Harden was right up against Dončić, though he didn’t jump to contest the shot.

The rising stardom of Giants rookie quarterback Tommy DeVito has reached new heights.
According to a report from trademark attorney Josh Gerben, DeVito has now filed for two new trademarks, including “TOMMY CUTLETS” and “PASSING PAISANO,” both of which are a play on his well-noted Italian heritage.
With the filings, DeVito plans to sell branded decals, clothing, pasta, pizza, tomato sauces, energy drinks and more.

Out with the old, and in with the new, sort of. That’s the strategy the Minnesota Vikings are taking this offseason by replacing the artificial turf inside U.S. Bank Stadium with more artificial turf.
According to ESPN, the Vikings are set to replace the slit-film turf they currently play on during home games with a new monofilament version called Act Global Xtreme Turf DX. The $1.3 million project will begin in February and be completed by the start of the 2024 season. The franchise is also installing the same turf inside its indoor practice facility as well.
