The sprint to the NFL playoffs is heating up.
The Baltimore Ravens capped off an exciting Week 16 with a hard-fought 33–19 win over the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night, inching closer to clinching the AFC’s coveted No. 1 seed.
The Ravens can now claim the conference’s top seed with a win over the Miami Dolphins next week.
Elsewhere in the NFL, the Las Vegas Raiders spoiled Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s Christmas Day plans by upsetting the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Philadelphia Eagles officially eliminated the New York Giants from postseason contention.

Week 16 of the NFL season is in the books, and here is how it has changed the playoff picture
Merry Christmas NFL fans!
And Merry Christmas to you reading from the Detroit area.
The Detroit Lions locked down their first division title since 1993, thanks to their win over the Minnesota Vikings. Thanks to results around the rest of the conference, the Lions are now sitting second in the NFC.
Over in the AFC, the Miami Dolphins clinched a playoff spot of their own, with a field goal on the final play of the game to beat the Dallas Cowboys.

Former NFL quarterback Cam Newton raised eyebrows earlier in December when he labeled San Francisco 49ers star Brock Purdy as a “game manager” rather than a “difference maker.”
Purdy, who entered the 49ers’ Christmas Day tilt against the Baltimore Ravens as the NFL MVP favorite, had a nightmarish evening during which he threw three interceptions in the first half alone, and quickly added a fourth to his tally early into the third quarter.
After Purdy’s third pick of the game, Newton took to X, formerly Twitter, to take a jab at San Francisco’s quarterback.

Takeaways from the Boston Celtics’ 126–115 Christmas Day win over the Los Angeles Lakers …
The Celtics are really, really good
Granted, this wasn’t pretty. Boston coughed up most of an 18-point first quarter lead by halftime and the three-point alarmists—several of which sat on ESPN’s halftime panel—were out in force after the Celtics connected on just 7-of-24 from three in the first two quarters.

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers got into the end zone early in the third quarter against the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night, and he was prepared with the perfect touchdown celebration.
After bagging a Christmas Day touchdown, the rookie receiver celebrated like The Grinch.
Flowers mimed kicking open a door and stealing Christmas presents from under a tree. He and tight end Isaiah Likely began stashing the gifts in an imaginary bag, as they effectively spoiled the holiday for 49ers fans at Levi’s Stadium.

Kyle Hamilton nabbed two of the Baltimore Ravens’ three interceptions in the first half against the San Francisco 49ers in their Week 16 matchup.
However, his second turnover was particularly impressive to NFL fans, providing a vivid demonstration of how a player shouldn’t stop giving full effort until the whistle blows.
Midway through the second quarter, Hamilton ran a blitz between the 49ers’ left tackle and guard. He was quickly flattened by Aaron Banks and Christian McCaffrey. (McCaffrey was flagged for an illegal chop block, going low while Banks blocked high.

The Philadelphia Eagles notched their 11th win of the season on Christmas Day with a 33–25 victory over the rival New York Giants, though it was anything but an encouraging performance from the Eagles.
Amid a disappointing stretch from the offense, fans at Lincoln Financial Field didn’t hesitate to boo the team.
Eagles fans loudly chanted “run the ball!” during the third quarter, and coach Nick Sirianni didn’t deny after the game that those jeers were audible from the field.
“Nah. We call the plays we feel like we need to call in the situations we need to call it.
