Nearing the end of his decades-long reign, Green Bay Packers president and CEO Mark Murphy is still winning fans over with his kindness.
When one ambitious Packers fan applied for the team’s vacant defensive coordinator position earlier this offseason, Murphy turned him down with the nicest rejection letter possible.
Bill Port, the fan who sent Murphy a cover letter and resume in a half-joking attempt to secure the then-open DC job, received a personalized handwritten letter from the Packers CEO, according to Richard Ryman of the Green Bay Press-Gazette.

Before he became one of television’s most prolific talkers, Shannon Sharpe was a top-notch tight end for the Denver Broncos (and briefly the Baltimore Ravens). A favorite target of legendary quarterback John Elway, Sharpe recorded three 1,000-yard seasons and went to eight Pro Bowls over the course of a 14-year career.
It was the kind of career, in short, that gets one discussed as one of the greatest tight ends in NFL history. Thus, Sharpe’s effusive praise of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce cannot be taken lightly.

Eliot Wolf is expected to take control of the New England Patriots’ personnel department this offseason, working with head coach Jerod Mayo, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports. Bill Belichick previously ran the front office, but he is not with the team for the first time in 24 years.
Among Wolf’s responsibility is having final say on the Patriots’ 53-man roster. Matt Groh, who has been with New England since 2011, will run the team’s college scouting department.

Nebraska football is all about family for five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola, a recent enrollee who could compete to start as a true freshman this fall. Raiola’s father Dominic was an All-American offensive lineman for the Huskers before his lengthy NFL career. His uncle Donovan is the team’s current offensive line coach.
Even so, Dominic Raiola says he didn’t pressure his son to commit to his alma mater. Initially, Raiola was set to play for Kirby Smart at Georgia, but began to express interest in Matt Rhule’s program.

The Dallas Cowboys have interviewed former NFL head coach and current ESPN studio personality Rex Ryan for its vacant defensive coordinator position. The news of Ryan’s interview was first reported by Josina Anderson of CBS Sports and confirmed by Cowboys beat writer Clarence Hill Jr.
The Cowboys are looking to replace Dan Quinn, who left his post as the franchise’s defensive coordinator to become the new head coach of the Washington Commanders.
Ryan, 61, has not coached in the NFL since 2016 when he was fired after two seasons as head coach of the Buffalo Bills.
