To make it to the All-Star Game in the NBA, you first have to master the Rising Stars Challenge.
The event, designed to showcase the league’s rookies and sophomores, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Virtually every superstar to pass through the league in the last three decades has graced the Rising Stars Challenge with their presence—Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant dropped 31 in the 1997 event in Cleveland, Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James scored 33 in the 2004 game in Los Angeles, and so on.

New England Patriots legend Tom Brady seems to approve of his former team’s new coach, Jerod Mayo.
Brady and Mayo played together on the Patriots from 2008–15 when the new coach played as a linebacker with the quarterback. Mayo then began his coaching career in 2019 as New England’s inside linebackers coach, which was Brady’s last season with the Patriots before he became a Tampa Bay Buccaneer.
During Brady’s Tuesday appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, the retired quarterback had only good things to say about his former teammate.

Arsenal won 2-1 at Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night to climb to second place in the Premier League table.
The Gunners had lost on each of their previous three visits to Nottingham but goals from Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka secured a first win at the City Ground since 2017.
Taiwo Awoniyi scored a late consolation goal for Forest, who now sit just two points above the relegation zone.

Los Angeles Lakers forward Jarred Vanderbilt was ejected from Monday night’s game against the Houston Rockets following a back-and-forth exchange with Dillon Brooks. The incident was strange, as the two pushed each other a bit, and then Vanderbilt gave one extra shove, leading to the officials giving him a technical.
Immediately after, Vanderbilt was responding to what Brooks was saying and reached a hand out toward his head. He was given his second technical and ejected while Brooks continued with the game.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones proclaimed on Tuesday that he intends to be “all in” on the 2024 NFL season after yet another disappointing playoff exit this past year during the wild-card round against the Green Bay Packers.
Speaking to reporters, Jones made clear that he intends to contend next season and that the Cowboys won’t be looking to build for the future.
“We will be going all in,” said Jones, via Clarence Hill Jr. of The Star-Telegram. “I would say that you will see us this coming year not build it for the future.

The mastermind behind Taylor Swift’s viral custom jacket is getting some good karma in 2024.
Kristin Juszczyk, a Bay Area-based fashion entrepreneur and the wife of San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk, inked a licensing deal with the NFL which allows her to use NFL logos in her designs for men’s and women’s apparel, as first reported by Sportico. The financial terms have not yet been released.

Son Heung-min captained South Korea to a dramatic victory over Saudi Arabia in the round of 16 at the AFC Asian Cup on Tuesday.
South Korea eventually prevailed via a penalty shootout but Son and Co had been losing 1-0 until the 99th minute.
Abdullah Radif fired Saudi Arabia in front with a sharp finish 32 seconds after coming on as a half-time substitute.
But Cho Gue-sung headed in an equalizer for Jurgen Klinsmann’s side deep into added time.

With the College Football Playoff expanding to 12 teams in 2024–25, the doors open for some nontraditional powers to make runs at a national championship. Deion Sanders believes Colorado can be among them this coming season.
Appearing on FS1’s Undisputed with Skip Bayless and Keyshawn Johnson, Sanders was asked if he’s “sticking with” his belief that the Buffaloes can make the jump from 4–8 to national title contention. He didn’t miss a beat.
“Yeah, most definitely. Shoot, I believe, man,” Sanders said. “I don’t just wear this on my shirt and on my chest.
