Michigan and Alabama are set to play in the Rose Bowl, as the matchup presents one of the most anticipated games in the College Football Playoff era. Although the game is still two weeks away, the Crimson Tide appear to be participating in some gamesmanship ahead of time.
Alabama has hired former Michigan assistant coach George Helow to a role on its coaching staff this week, The Athletic first reported. Helow spent the 2021 and ’22 seasons as Michigan’s linebackers coach, but he and the team agreed to part ways ahead of the 2023 season.

The Raiders’ 63—21 win over the Chargers on Thursday Night Football had a little bit of everything, from trick plays to a one-handed pick-six interception. The blowout even included an epic big-man touchdown by Las Vegas defensive tackle John Jenkins.
As time expired in the third quarter, Raiders defensive end Malcolm Koonce got to Los Angeles quarterback Easton Stick for the second time in the contest, also forcing his second fumble. Jenkins, all 327 pounds of him, was in the right place at the right time, scooped up the fumble and rumbled 44 yards for the score.

There are a lot of bowl games, so we picked the best one for each day of bowl season
Including the National Championship Game, there are 43 college football bowl games set to be played this bowl season. It all gets started with the Myrtle Beach Bowl on December 16, working all the way to the National Championship Game on January 8, 2024.
That … is a lot of football to watch.
Now, we do not know your exact schedule dear reader for the next few weeks. Perhaps you are lucky enough that you can devote the time it will take to watch all 43 games.

There may not be a better slate all season long than this upcoming weekend of games. With three matchups between two top-15 teams (including a top-three showdown in Indianapolis), plus multiple other blueblood meetings, this weekend’s action has a chance to produce some season-changing results. Will we see more undefeated teams fall? Can anyone overtake Arizona for the top spot in the polls? And which teams will get huge wins to set themselves apart before conference play?
Here’s what to expect from this weekend’s action.

Sports fans often complain about officiating, especially when a bad call appears to cost their team a win. That grousing sometimes goes from jokes to conspiracy theories, that speculate as to whether an official was influenced by outside forces such as league officials. Or betting.
The Tim Donaghy officiating scandal in the NBA confirmed those fears and suspicions for many and naturally raised questions as to whether a similar scenario could occur in the NFL.

The Titans QB, Vikings defense, and Broncos hell-raiser Ja’Quan McMillian go under the microscope of Establish the Fun.
It’s Friday.
You know what that means.
Welcome back to Establish the Fun, where football is fun and I’m establishing that harder than a Tommy Cutlets celebration (those cutlets on Monday Night Football looked pretty darn good, I’m not gonna lie).

Warriors star Draymond Green was indefinitely suspended by the NBA on Wednesday, but the two players at the center of Green’s in-game altercations this season are showing concern for him in the wake of the league’s discipline.
“I have empathy for him,” Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert told ESPN on Thursday night.
Gobert was put into a headlock by Green during a game on Nov. 14, which led to a five-game suspension for the Warriors forward. That didn’t stop Gobert from hoping that Green gets help.
“You see somebody that’s not well inside and suffering.

The Chargers got embarrassed in their Week 15 loss to the Raiders Thursday night, allowing 42 points in the first half and falling to Las Vegas 63–21. The loss had many within the NFL community criticizing head coach Brandon Staley after such an embarrassing defeat.
While some believe the result of the game is proof that the Chargers no longer believe in Staley, the players themselves disagree. Multiple Chargers players defended Staley after the game despite such a disheartening loss.
