After a historic season, the Indiana Fever point guard received 66 of 67 votes, with Sky forward Angel Reese receiving one vote as well.
After a historic rookie campaign on the Indiana Fever, Caitlin Clark was named WNBA Rookie of the Year on Thursday — earning 66 of 67 votes from a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters. Angel Reese earned the lone other vote.
This season, Clark averaged 19.2 points, 8.4 assists, and 5.7 rebounds per game, leading the Fever to the No. 6 seed in the playoffs.
There was no question that Indiana Fever sensation Caitlin Clark was going to be named the WNBA Rookie of the Year. In fact, it was quite an easy decision that should have been unanimous.
But, it wasn’t. That’s because someone inexplicably decided to vote for Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese.
Clark was already named the AP WNBA Rookie of the Year, and the voting was unanimous. However, the WNBA’s official award, which is apparently different because it’s sponsored by Kia, had 66 people vote for Clark and one vote for Reese.
