The good thing about sports is that it gives you multiple chances to redeem yourself. That was true for Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark in their overtime comeback win Sunday against the Atlanta Dream.
In the first half, Clark was hitting shots, but also giving the ball to the Dream with uncharacteristic regularity. She committed nine turnovers in the game – more than the entire Atlanta team – and six of those came in the first half. That contributed to the Fever being down 48-44 at the half, to a team that entered 12-22 and one spot out of playoff contention.

Algerian Olympic boxer Imane Khelif faced scrutiny during the Paris Summer Olympics for competing against women despite being unable to confirm XX chromosomes.
Past failed gender tests by Khelif spotlighted the fighter’s physical dominance over female boxers, which became evident once Khelif started fighting.
Khelif failed a gender test administered by the International Boxing Association that led to disqualification from the World Boxing Championships, but competed in the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics.

Marshawn Lynch does whatever Marshawn Lynch wants to do — even if that means distracting an NFL head coach in the middle of his first game.
The former NFL running back was on the sideline for the Seattle Seahawks‘ season opener against the Denver Broncos. Nearing the end of the first quarter, with the score tied at 3, Lynch must have sensed that Seahawks’ coach Mike Macdonald was looking a little tense. So Lynch walked up behind him and treated him to a relaxing shoulder massage while he, apparently, gave the coach some words of encouragement.

The Denver Broncos will take points any way they can get them.
In their season opener against the Seattle Seahawks, Denver’s defense came up big with — not one — but TWO safeties in the first half.
The first one came early in the second quarter, when the Seahawks were backed up at their own 1-yard line and guard Anthony Bradford was called for holding in the end zone.
Then, late in the second quarter, the Seahawks had the ball on their own 1-yard line again, and running back Zach Charbonnet was hit in the end zone and tackled just before he could break the goal line.

The fallout from Tyreek Hill’s detainment by Miami-Dade Police outside Hard Rock Stadium before the Miami Dolphins game against the Jacksonville Jaguars is coming into focus.
And the Dolphins wide receiver is looking better.
And one of the officers responsible for detaining him is off the streets.
The MDPD announced that the unnamed officer is now on administrative leave.
“That should tell you everything you need to know,” Hill said after the game.

Simone Biles’ NFL player of a husband made a play!
Jonathan Owens, the ex-Packers safety turned Bear, elevated Chicago in Week 1 by securing a touchdown on a botched special teams play by Tennessee.
Simone Biles, the Olympic gold medalist and Team USA gymnast, couldn’t contain her excitement as she celebrated her beau’s touchdown on a new team.
After Owens spent all that time in Paris cheering on Biles, the gymnast returned the favor on Sunday.
“I ALMOST HAD A HEART ATTACK,” Biles posted on X, reacting to Owens’ TD.
