Did you know that boxers are able to legally bet on themselves?
If you did, you are one of the few, as the sports world is all but dumbfounded this past week after it was reported that boxer Ryan Garcia cashed in a $10 million profit after placing a moneyline wager on himself to defeat Devin Haney this past weekend for the WBC Light Welterweight Championship.
Garcia was an underdog going in against the undefeated Haney. In the days prior to the fight, he said that he placed a $2 million moneyline wager on himself that ultimately would pay out $12 million.

Television coverage for women’s golf is abysmal compared to men’s and Korda wants to hold the networks accountable.
Nelly Korda won her second major at the Chevron Championship Sunday.
In doing so, she joined Annika Sorenstam and Nancy Lopez as the third player to ever win five straight LPGA events. This win launched the 25-year-old into another stratosphere.
However, the lack of LPGA coverage is still quite obvious. Despite claiming four victories and the first major on the calendar, the coverage was lacking.

Detroit Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown is going to become a very rich man over the next few years.
St. Brown has been one of the main pillars of Detroit’s offense since entering the league in 2021, and he’s been a huge part of the Lions becoming a legit contender.
When you win and put up numbers in the NFL, you get paid. It’s that simple, and the talented receiver has his bag.
Dan Campbell and GM Brad Holmes have assembled a hell of a roster, and are now doing whatever is necessary to keep it together.

Scheffler and Korda have taken over professional golf, and PGA Tour players discussed how incredible it is to watch.
Scottie Scheffler and Nelly Korda have won in nine of their last 10 combined starts. The LPGA superstar has won five straight, while the men’s World No. 1 has won four.
It has been a while since a run of this magnitude has happened in golf. Fans want more of this duo, and many want to see Scottie vs. Nelly in a match-play setting.

It’s tough to put a price tag on loyalty, but the PGA Tour is giving it its best shot by delivering very large paydays to some of its top players who have not made the jump to LIV Golf.
Back at the end of January, the PGA Tour struck a $3 billion investment deal with Strategic Sports Group, a consortium of American billionaires, to form a for-profit entity called PGA Tour Enterprises. After the deal was made official, the Tour sent a statement to its membership that explained “players would collectively access over $1.5 billion in equity in PGA Tour Enterprises.

The day before the NCAA women’s college basketball national championship game, OutKick asked both South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley and Iowa head coach Lisa Bluder if they thought transgender women (biological males) should be allowed to compete in women’s college basketball.
Staley made national headlines when she proclaimed, “I’m of the opinion that if you’re a woman, you should play. If you consider yourself a woman, and you want to play sports or vice versa, you should be able to play.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are not expected to pick up Justin Fields’ fifth-year option, according to Adam Schefter. That means Fields is set to become a free agent after the 2024 season. The news isn’t surprising, since Fields was due to make just over $25 million on the tag.

Folks, going into this edition of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, I gave the Florida Panthers-Tampa Bay Lightning an unprecedented 12 out of 10 on my patent-pending Intrigue-O-Meter (which is a device I made up that is like a Geiger counter that lights up and has hot rod flames painted on it), a feat experts believed was impossible.
Through two games I ask you: are you not entertained?!
While both games have been wins for the Florida Panthers both were hard-fought close games that ended 3-2, with Game 2 requiring an extra frame in which Carter Verhaeghe potted the game-winner.
