The NHL preseason starts this weekend, but the guys and gals playing at the college level are already up and running and it didn’t take long for an early Save of the Year candidate to show up.
I love when we get a chance to highlight some club hockey, and for this one, we’ve got to check in on the Florida Gulf Coast University Eagles who traveled north to face off against the Liberty University Flames in Lynchburg, Virginia for a three-game weekend series to open the season.

One of the primary motivations for the USC Trojans to leave the Pac-12 Conference and move to the Big Ten was the increase in revenue set to pour into the program. USC, sick of being out-earned each year by programs like Purdue and Vanderbilt, fell behind in spending on athletic facilities. 
Those days are clearly over.
The USC football program posted a new promotional video on YouTube highlighting the school’s new football-only facility set to open in 2026. And boy, oh boy, does it look amazing.

The two VCARB enjoyed much different Saturday nights on the Singapore streets
It has been a tough few weeks for Yuki Tsunoda.
But thanks to a strong performance Saturday at the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix, he is in a position to erase those bitter memories and deliver a points finish for Visa Cash App RB F1 Team.
Tsunoda retired from each of the past two races, first at the Italian Grand Prix after contact with Nico Hülkenberg, and then early in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix following an opening-lap incident with Lance Stroll.

The Red Flash (what a sick nickname) were on the Eagles’ 1-yard line facing a 2nd-&-goal, and quarterback Adrian Mejia was under center about to take the snap.

A dozen players in all were diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis, a potentially life-threatening injury associated with overexertion.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen had a great qualifying session on Saturday in Singapore to stick an at times unwieldy RB20 on the first row of the grid where he’ll start in P2 alongside pole sitter Lando Norris of McLaren.
However, it’s the press conference that came afterward that has the people talking.
Verstappen, Norris, and P3 qualifier Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes, took part in a press conference as is the norm for F1 after qualifying.

During the season, athletes of all sports will go to casinos to party. But very rarely do you see guys get punished for staying out and enjoying the nightlife.
The Washington Nationals decided to break this trend, but they did so with good reason.
CJ Abrams is the team’s first baseman, and was the squad’s only All-Star selection this year. During a series in Chicago this weekend against the Cubs, he spent time at a casino in the Windy City, but stayed up really, really late into the morning hours before Friday’s game, which started at 1 p.m. CT.

The Nationals have demoted All-Star shortstop CJ Abrams after he stayed out all night at a Chicago-area casino before a day game against the Cubs, sources told ESPN’s Jesse Rogers.

The 2024 Cardinals were average in run prevention and below average in run production.

Look, it’s a college football Saturday. I HATE talking politics on the weekend in the fall. No place for it. No time for it. 
We’ve got a full slate of college football games today, and a full slate of NFL tomorrow. Trump and Kamala can hit the bricks until Monday, for all I care. I’ve got bets placed and parlays to brutally lose. 
That being said, when the two worlds collide, I have to blog about it.
