Was the no-hitter fake?
Houston Astros ascending pitcher Ronel Blanco was tossed in the fourth inning of Tuesday’s game against the Oakland A’s after an ump checked Blanco’s glove and discovered an illegal “sticky substance.”
(Cheating allegations … Houston Astros … the jokes write themselves.)
Blanco could face a 10-game suspension as a result of his ejection. A batch of pitchers received suspensions last year for using sticky substances — an MLB guideline since 2021.

The lead-up to Caitlin Clark’s WNBA debut was hot. Clark’s debut, on the other hand, was cold.
Following a legendary run for the Iowa Hawkeyes, expectations were sky-high for the new Indiana Fever star.
Clark faced the Connecticut Sun before a sold-out, 10,000-person crowd at Mohegan Sun Arena. She finished the games (a 92-71 loss) with 20 points (5-of-15).
During the third quarter, Clark’s turnover near the halfcourt line made her dad, Brent, shake his head with dismay.

The Oakland A’s are one step closer to moving to Las Vegas, thanks to the Nevada Supreme Court.
On Monday, the court rejected a proposed ballot initiative that would have allowed Nevada voters to decide whether to withdraw the public funding that lawmakers agreed to provide to the billionaire owner of the A’s, John Fisher.
A lower court had also rejected the ballot initiative, with the Supreme Court upholding that decision.

Speaking to reporters at the NBA Combine in Chicago Tuesday, Bronny James, addressing the notion of playing with his father, LeBron James, said “that’s not my mindset or not at all. I’m just trying to put in the work and see where it takes me from there.

I don’t know what it is, but for whatever reason, anytime someone sticks a microphone in Vancouver Canucks defenseman Nikita Zadorovs face, he starts dropping lines like he’s standing in the middle of the ring cutting a WWE promo.
It started ahead of Game 3 in the Canucks series against the Edmonton Oilers when Zadorov talked about how great and supportive Oilers fans were…
…but that was because there was nothing else to do in Edmonton.

Real NBA head coach Doc Rivers grilled his former player, JJ Redick, after the podcaster/wannabe coach gave scathing remarks about Rivers’ leadership.
On ESPN, Redick remarked that Doc Rivers lacked accountability after Doc stated that his losing Milwaukee Bucks players had their minds on “Cancun” rather than winning games.

I don’t know a lot about the French, but I know two things they love: Jerry Lewis and love.
Maybe not even in that order.
In all honesty, I’m basing their love of love on Pepé Le Pew cartoons, a rodent whose horn-doggedness toed the line of decency. I mean the guy was practically frothing at the mouth… although he is a skunk so that could have just been rabies.
Given France and particularly Paris’ history of love, I’m surprised that the Olympics has once again trotted out the “anti-sex” beds. Seems to go against the culture.

The Pac-12 Conference is dead, long live the Pac-12 Conference.
The zombie remains of the Pac-12 continue to exist, which is funny enough as it is, but what might be even funnier is the Pac-12 Conference posting home game kickoffs and national television broadcasts. For two teams. Most of which will be on the CW.
Yes, the CW.
Oregon State will have games against Idaho State, Purdue, Colorado State, UNLV and San Jose State on the CW. The Civil War matchup against Oregon though, will at least be on Fox or FS1. Washington State also gets one whole game not on the CW, against Texas Tech.

Caitlin Clark’s introduction to the WNBA is already breaking attendance records.
The Indiana Fever’s top pick of the 2024 WNBA draft and former Iowa Hawkeyes star is making her WNBA debut on Tuesday against the Connecticut Sun, and it’s a surefire bet that Clark’s otherworldly shooting ability and handles will make her a traveling sensation.
Facing off against the Sun, Clark’s debut drew a sold-out crowd to Connecticut’s home venue: the 10,000-seat Mohegan Sun Arena.
