The Golden State Warriors avoided the worst-case scenario Friday, as an MRI on Steph Curry’s right ankle came back clean, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported.
Curry, who exited the Warriors’ 125–122 loss to the Chicago Bulls early after suffering the ankle injury, is expected to miss at least one game. But the Warriors reportedly are optimistic they’ll have their star guard back on the floor soon, The Athletic’s Anthony Slater reported Friday.

There’s a level of optimism about how Steph Curry’s ankle sprain responded overnight from the Warriors.

I’m sick of debating this: Raleigh, North Carolina is a bonafide Hockey Town.
No more of this “non-traditional market” nonsense. Would a non-traditional market put beer in a hockey stick and then sell it to you?!
No. No, they would not.
The Carolina Hurricanes have been one of the most active teams in the NHL ahead of the trade deadline, but they’ve also been at the forefront of concession innovation.
Take a gander at their newest invention: the beer stick.
I love an alternative vessel for beer.

As it eyes a new season, Michigan appears set to part ways with a familiar face.
Wolverines running backs coach Mike Hart will not return to the program in 2024, according to a Friday afternoon report from Angelique Chengelis of The Detroit News.
Hart, 37, has served as Michigan’s running backs coach in some capacity since 2021. He also worked as the Wolverines’ run game coordinator from 2022–23, and coached the team to a 35–7 win over UNLV on Sept. 9, during Jim Harbaugh’s first suspension of the ’23 season.
As a player, Hart rushed for 5,040 yards from 2004 to ’07.

The Vegas Golden Knights took another step forward in the quest to defend their Stanley Cup title after landing center Tomas Hertl in a blockbuster trade with the San Jose Sharks on Friday afternoon, according to TSN‘s Bob McKenzie.
TSN‘s Darren Dreger added that the Knights are sending a 2025 first-round pick and forward David Edstrom back to the Sharks in the deal. Vegas will receive a third-round pick in 2025 and 2027, and the Sharks will retain 17% of Hertl’s salary on their books.

Temple has a bad men’s basketball team that fell to 11-19 overall and 4-13 in the American Athletic Conference on Thursday night with a 100-72 home loss as a touchdown underdog to Alabama-Birmingham, which improved to 19-11 and 11-6 in the AAC.
Not exactly a surprise to the sparse crowd of 2,515 at the 10,206-seat Liacouras Center in Philadelphia. The Owls did suffer a 10-game losing streak from Jan. 10 through Feb. 15 and have eight losses by 10 points or more under first-year coach Adam Fisher.

Anthony Edwards made one of the best plays of the 2023-24 NBA season on Thursday night when he stuffed Aaron Nesmith’s layup in the closing seconds of the Minnesota Timberwolves’ 113–111 win over the Indiana Pacers.
Edwards jumped so high that he hit his head on the rim.
Somehow, Fox Sports commentator Skip Bayless found something to nitpick on the play, believing that any of the Timberwolves in the area also could have made that block.
“There were white jerseys everywhere,” Bayless said to co-host Keyshawn Johnson. “Somebody is going to do it.

Mac Jones appears to be the latest young quarterback headed for a fresh start.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the New England Patriots are open to trading Jones as they have been fielding calls from teams interested in the quarterback.
The Patriots selected Jones in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft, and the former Alabama quarterback immediately became the starter in New England. Jones helped lead the Patriots to the playoffs in his rookie season, throwing for 3,801 yards, with 22 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

Former NBA guard Isaiah Thomas could easily rest on his laurels, if he so chose.
Thomas made $34.4 million in the NBA, after all. A degree of adulation toward him in Boston is guaranteed after his 28.9-point-per-game season for the Boston Celtics in 2017; fans of the Sacramento Kings may look back on his time there fondly as well.
However, Thomas is attempting a comeback at age 35 in the G League anyway. On Friday morning’s edition of Run It Back on FanDuel TV, the two-time All-Star explained the rationale for his return.
“Ultimately I’m just fighting for an opportunity.
